Subwoofer crossover or low pass filter

Hi are you guys using crossovers for subwoofers so it trims some of the frequencies off of your monitors and lets the sub take them over?

or do you just adjust the low pass filter on the sub to what sounds good and leave yourself with overlapping frequencies?

Both options do the same thing. You plug into the subwoofer and then out of the sub into the monitors. The sub's filter sets the crossover point.

The first way with an external crossover is so much more difficult to set up and usually the room designer/acoustician handles it.
