Distance with doubles

Hey all,

I was mixing some of my own material and I kept having a hard time getting parts where I doubled and even tripled the vocal to sit nicely. Especially in the hook.

So I was wondering how effective the different distance from the mic with each layer method is? Has anyone here tried it and had good results? I can't track again for a couple days so I was wondering what your opinions on it were.

Thanks!

Great idea! I've used it in the past with good results and one of those classic great "tricks" (in my boook at least) you could also try cutting around 3k and some high end off the tracks you want to sit behind. Makes sense when you consider that air absorbes more high frequency so the further something is away from you the darker its going to sound. So it "tricks" your ears into thinking its further away. Thanks for reminding me of this, I haven't used it in a while and its a good one.
