I am yet to hear of any plug-in that can get that authentic Roger sound.
If there is one I would like to know as well.

Or just build your own...

I built my talkbox from an MCM 54 driver and an Optimus Radio Shack PA amp for less than $70

DX100 or Moog with a Rocktron Banshee will give you that sound, but the talent and style used to create that funk belongs to Roger.

Sorry dude...if you wanna get that talkbox sound...especially Troutman...ONLY the genuine article is going to get you where you wanna go...

The C is C patch is floating around the net...and it works with Native Instruments FM7 which loads the DX100 sysex patches. (Not sure about FM8 tho)

But you not gonna get close without an actual box my dude....

+1 on building your own talkbox. You don't need much (at least if you want to use it only at home and not in a live setting). A horn driver am amp a flexible tube and any synth(plugin) that produce a sawtooth wave (almost any synth ) Thats it. Well......skillz in syncing mouthmovement and playing notes on the keyboard and using the pitchbend and modulation wheel in a good way.

I wonder how this could be emulated in a plugin cause this sound is created by using the oral cavity, the throat and the lips as a filter for a syth sound. There is no sound comming from the vocal cords. You just move the lips and/or whisper the words and accentuate the consonants. This way of filtering / forming a sound is very complex and I can't image a plugin analyzing this in real time. Its not like analyzing singing or talking. It has to be able to analyze whispering or no sound at all but movement of the mouth so.....

peace

Yeah, that is the idea, but felt if I could be closer to the real deal. I will be closer to creating my unique sound. With the morphoder I was able to sculpture my unique one.
thanks for the bump. Just reminded me to tweak it even further, glad to hear all the newbies that come through getting blown away by this.

Anybody got any good ideas for using a smaller tube on a talkbox? I have the Banshee and the tube is stupidly large and gag-inducing. I guess I could stuff some material in hole where the tube connects to the pedal to get it to sit snug.

I would simply take a thinner tube (length= 5-10 inch) that fits perfectly inside the original tube and use this this thinner tube as "mouthpiece". This way you can have more mouthpieces and let other people play with the talkbox without the risk of infection with whatever in their mouth is

Yea i done this too. Mine looks like this: http://i45.tinypic.com/5o79ft.jpg

i think i got a 5/16, and stuck it through the a peice i cut from the original tube. There's a thick layer of tape around the end as you can see because it didn't feel all that secure enough, i get clear sound now.
