Thread Starter | Do I Need an Audio Interface? Hi all, Right now I'm using just a Motif ES6 with a pair of headphones to make beats, but this summer I'm planning to buy a Macbook Pro, some monitors, and turntables and a DJ mixer for sampling. I dont need to record vocals or bands or anything, so for a simple DAW/Motif/TT setup do I need an audio interface? Would I be okay just running the audio outs of the Motif straight into the MBP and running the audio outs of the MBP to my monitors, and also connecting my Motif to my MBP by USB for MIDI? I'm thinking that buying an audio interface might be overkill, but I'm also concerned that going without one might cause sound quality/convenience/latency problems. I'd be buying Logic and sequencing there, and using its internal synths as well as my Motif's sounds and whatever samples I take from vinyl. Thanks and let me know if I have to clarify anything. |
