| can anyone identify this sample? hi guys i need your help. for one of my productions i'd like to use the attached vocal sample. but i have to sort out the copyright issues. does anyone know where it comes from? or (and that would be even better) is it maybe even on any sample cd? thank you for any advice cheers Jakob |

I always thought that was DMC from Run DMC - at the beginning of some song with DJ Run and DMC just talking. I guess it could have been Jam Master Jay playing an older record, but it sounds too much like DMC, not to be DMC. | |

man I wouldn't be paying for clearing that, just throw up a mic say "AW YEAH" , record it onto a cassette tape to saturate it similarly, and be done with it then you can take your savings and buy another mic! Quote:

| you guys are probable right with just re-recording it. it's just such a cool ah yeah :-) i know clearing samples can be really expensive. i guess if i purchased a cut record that feautures the sample i would not get the rights....am i right on this? |

| Lives for gear | that has been in so many tracks i can't even count. and on countless cut records like Dj Rectangle.

| Gear maniac | true Ahw Yeah -- is probably the most used (overused) sample EVER ! What about you take this little inspirational journey of hyour Question & our replies to throw the track in a new directiona nd kick out any un-original elements ?? Just replace "Aw Yeah " with a really sexy girl saying " Oh my Gawd ! " or something like that ... I bet your track will improve bigtime |

| I was wondering what that sample is. It's on kid koala's carple tunnel syndrome and j dilla's donuts. i've heard it a few other places too.

| It's RUN-DMC "here we go" with DMC on the intro. That's the song they rock live over the big beat break. |

| ok cool guys i agree that one should just come up with your own sample...but my client doesn't. so let me ask you..anyone have an idea how to obtain the rights without spending a fortune? cheers |

| Gear addict | I would not worry about it, that sample is on every DJ scratch record known to the face of man. |

| Lives for gear | you WILL have to clear it. a friend of mine put out a scratch album on sony, had to pull a song because nobody cleared the "how ya'll feel out there" from the same record... those battle breaks aren't royalty free, so you have to keep it in mind when using the stuff (something like super duck breaks or battle roulette couldn't exist if they had to clear all that shit)

| ..., THe "Ah yeah" cut may be from the Wildstyle live LP from the classic "only real" hip hop movie ever made.... or something equally old school, i used to know but it's evading my memory right now... Damn invisible files! If i remember or track it down for sure i'll post it.. it's VERY played out though, hope you have a new and innovative way to use it! Peace.

It goes a 1, 2, 3 and HERE WE GO HERE WE GO HERE WE GO HERE WE GO HERE WE HERE WE HERE WE GO!!!!! DOR the fellow record nerd got that one, HERE WE GO (Live at the Funhouse) over the Big Beat. August 5th, 1983 Rush-Groove. Put out in 85 on Profile. Call your boy Russell about that one, and definitely does need to be cleared. I can't believe we are so far removed in the "hip hop" forum.
