I have been endorsing the Rodec Scratchbox ever since it came out, so I might be a little biased. However, I have used both mixers intensively and I would definitely go with the Scratchbox.

Hands on the best mixer I have ever used! I absolutely love everything about this thing. It's worth every penny. The sound, the build, the parts, the faders, the bag that comes along with it, everything is top notch quality.

thanks for the feedback. It is really difficult to find anyone saying anything negative about the scratchbox it looks really great.

and when people get that dj mixer they must not sell it because it isn't easy to find used :(

rane ttm's i'm seeing of all shapes and sizes

Allen & Heath Xone2:02 - filthy dirty good, a bit hard to find but runs MUCH cheaper than the other two.

I have one of these and it is the last mixer I will ever buy. Clean and rock solid, nice eqs and extremely well built

I will definitely look into the xone.

after looking at more mixers the rane sixty two and sixty one look pretty slick, but pricey.

i see a lot of traktor audio 8/10 etc devices on craigslist some say they don't include the tsp license. how much would that run me if i went the traktor route? i.e buying a used USB digital vinyl system interface (do i need to buy a new license? or is the license transferable?) what about for the serato usb devices? will i need a serial number or how to i authorize the program?

I've been reading about the 02 and found this troubling post

SO! What mixer is better? Xone:02 or... - Xone Forums

I love the xone 02 better, but the fact that the vu meters are pre fade is crap cos it means that if you have the channel faders both set to the same level and then adjust the gain to make the vu meters on both channels hit the same level, one side will always be louder. If allen and heath will listen to their customers and put the vu meters post fade then both the channel faders and gain controls will have an effect on the vu meters whic means a dj can just simply step up to any xone 02 mixer and trust the vu meters as they will show the correct volume of both channels. Oh and 1 more thing, I went through 4 penny and giles crossfades, each one lasting about 6-10 hours of scratching before they started to leak which means they have a design fault.

Is the prefader vu meter thing an issue for you ?

Have you ever had to replace anything on your 02

I don't mix with meters I just use my ears so I kinda feel bad to say I never even noticed it. I'm not a party/mix guy though. I can and have done it many times but I'm just more of a scratcher so your results may vary. I bought my Xone brand new in 06 and everything is still working fine. I hit up the faders with some caiglube every now and then and never have an issue. It's built like a tank and mad quiet. P&G faders are mad common too I don't know whats up with dude going through soo many... at least they were common when I was gear crazy(like I said Im content with my Xone dont need a new mixer and aint been lookin) Oh and I have the OG Xone:02 not the Xone2:02(not really a fan of that faceplate graphic)

FWIW
I use it with 2 numark TTXs

I'm a very happy user of the Rane USB-based mixers. I have owned two 57's, currently own a Sixty-Eight, and am thinking of getting a Sixty-Two.

I use them for both digital and traditional analog vinyl.

Rane has never charged me for a software upgrade, btw.

I have the exact same setup. I just bought my Xone2:02 used recently and the one I bought has the Innofader installed, so I can't speak to the stock faders. But I believe the 2:02 came with a better crossfader than the original - the Audio Innovate ProXFade. Not 100% sure since mine was upgraded before I got it.

Yeah, the faceplate graphic is hideous. But the face of the mixer is so simple and well laid out, I said F it, sanded it, and hit it with a couple coats of appliance paint. It looks great and has a nice smooth, hard finish. A few things aren't labeled but it's very obvious what they are.
