Dbx 160a or Tla 50 ?

I have the following already Tlm 102 , Daking Mic Pre One. Im looking to add a Compressor for tracking vocals. I like the Tla 50 but some reviews say its noisy but sounds good. A studio that my buddy used on time had a Tla 50 and his vocals came out nice! I never heard the Dbx but it seems to get alot of love. Out of the two wich would be best for my setup? Also I know there are comps in the same price range that are just as good or better so suggestions are welcome . This will be my first Comp so thanks for any help... Jay

the 160a is a good compressor..but you have to know how to work it on vocals...light gain reduction..i use one in my setup now...I do mostly mixtapes, rnb, and vocal drops for commercials..Also the Dbx160a is a monster on DRUMS....

The 160a will reduce bass and "bigness". It is good for dense mixes like in metal (really good on metal vocals).

A slight Hf roll off isnt always a bad thing. What the 160 does is hard to put into words truly a box you need to play with to get it I use mine on vox kick snare and bass with awesome result i have a pair of xt's and will be buying 2 more soon
