Closest thing to MPC workflow?

Hey guys,

Besides Maschine, is their anything out their that you feel is close to an mpc's workflow? Someone mentioned to me that Samplitude is has better sampling capablities than both Studio One, FL Studio, and Ableton. Apparently it has better timestretching than all three. A guitar center rep told me this. I don't know if those facts are true or not. If you could argue that, what which one is better in your opinion. Anyway, thanks for any suggestions.

you need hardware sampler stuff. imho even a sp 404 is closer to the mpc than any daw.

I wouldn't be looking at a DAW but a plugin. Something like Geist or Beat Thang Virtual to emulate the MPC workflow. Some of them can be used in stand alone mode without the DAW.

isn't samplitude just a daw? obviously you could make beats in it but i don't see how the workflow would have anything to do with an MPC. guitar center reps are scumbags, never ever listen to them. You've got to look at drum samplers with integrated pattern sequencers, so on the software side, the closest in workflow/features is going to be Maschine.. and soon MPC Ren/Studio

OP.

Samplitude is like crack.
Timestretch is incredible. Object Oriented workflow is better than any other Daws implementation hands down. In fact they all seem to be biting from Samp on that front. Mastering features beat everyone. Effects... outstanding. Mixing just feels good. Once you learn it... you wont want to switch for mixing / mastering.

S1 is much easier to use. Its dead easy. Dare I say fun to use. Neither is anything like a mpc. Maschine is closest and its sooooooo far away from the mpc workflow that its not funny. Maschine with Ableton is better to use than ni software and its not close. Geist is not. FPC is not BPM is not. Battery is not. Guru is not... and the list goes on.

You might be able to get a mpd32 plus a hacked apc / launchpar or some other box o'buttons to get you closer. It would require some programming effort though. Maschine is it at the moment for software. If you don't mind mousing or programming a controller, try Geist.

The closest might be Maschine but like it has been said, it's the closest but not that close.

Hence all the Maschine owners using MPCs.

geist comes very very close to a mpc workflow...try it out..

flstudio is also a bad ass groove box...i mean connect your turntable to your soundcard ...then sample into fl studio s edison audioeditor which is very powerfull...
from there you stretch/ slice /pitch /reduce the noise/filter/harmonic filter and many more things...
from there you can drag and drop it to slicex or to other fl ibstruments...

Grist is not even close. It is very nice to use though.
The MPC workflow is predicated on its dedicated hardware control.

I don't use the tool and have never owned a 303

But Renoise as it is, is pretty cool. Just download it and mess with it.

POISE

Nothing beats it. It's $49 and worth every penny. Pair it with your favorite drum pad controller (Korg PadKontrol, Akai MPD18, etc) and something like Reaper (www.reaper.fm)... a deadly combo.

I use it, and Maschine... depending on what I want to work on. Hip-hop beatmaking is pure bliss.
