Huge Impacting Snares



they come in at 0:55

I have no snares that sound similar to this.
How could I achieve this kind of snare? I love how hard the impact is when it hits.

Also, what is that little weird sounding percussion hit at 1:16?
I LOVE that sound, it's so weird.

Start with a hard hitting snare. Off the head it sounds like the foundation snare at :55 is from "beat box" by art of noise. A very overused snare back in the day.

i think it's more the sound of the reverb that gives it that distinctive character. has a sort of 80s gated reverb sound to it.

I'm with you and popular on this one. I remember this snare back in the day. That almost 80's slap can add wonders. Remember that adding some form of attack/snap and effecting the transient as opposed to the sample can sometimes yield a better result. Clap or Rimshot attacks are great for this purpose.
