1. 12bit sampling ONLY.

just got this my 2nd s950 in the post! I'm such an akai addict.

but he has two DPS24's.. the best standalone hard disc recorders ever made (according to many AE's opinion).
How you gonna front with 2 x 750 kB RAM???

Anyway atlpd3147, do you still use both machines in conjunction with what seems to be a PC DAW setup?

0t0b0t yea I love the Dps24. I basically record to them then transfer the wav files to my mac to mix in protools 8. But since I'm getting some funky driver conflicts with the ren and pt8 I will have to get pt10.
I'm sort of old-school when it comes to recording. I like the immediacy of being able to record to a unit that isn't leashed to my computer.
Also since getting the ua Apollo I track with plugs directly into the Dps24 with light compression and very subtle eq.
It's works beautifully!

Yeah, I like the that immediacy too. I have read and heard that the EQ and channel on each channel of the DPS24 is pretty good.
I went from HW setup to ITB, then back to HW.. and now after getting a really powerful laptop, I also ordered an MPC Ren... should be here by saturday.
I hope to get the MPC workflow I'm used to with more flexibility and speed in chopping and better DAW integration from that. Combined with the hardware I will keep - 32 ch analog mixer, some outboard comps and effects, Octatrack and Emax - I'm going for a "best of both worlds hybrid setup

Besides from the PT 8 driver issues, how do you like the Ren?
I have PT 9 myself and hope the RTAS plug-in is already pretty stable.

0t0b0t the ren is Kool. Slightly buggy I must admit but its working fine for me. Timing is tight and the sounds are punchy!
You should be fine with pt9.

Dynaudios here - though I somewhat have regretted my decision. Honestly, out of everything I heard they were my favorite, and as monitors (especially after I treated my room) I have no complaints. But, a few months after I bought them I heard the Focal's (CMS) and was so blown away I was plotting on ways I could have switched them but never did

This was a long time ago when I was in co-op making a lot less $$$, if I upgraded it now it would be to the Focal Solo's or the Duo's

I have to admit, I am jealous of many of the latest pics. I just moved and my room is even smaller than the last. Vinyl is encroaching on my space. I'd post some pics but not quite done and figure it's almost next year anyway.

Get out of that corner if you have the room. You will love it. But yeah, you have everything you really need for what you do and no need for more.

RP5'z are front ported, so walls don't really matter as much for those monitors (GENERALLY)
