UN scientific Reason 3.0 test (clips attached)

The purpose of this UN scienfic test is i want to know if a beat (genrally speaking) sounds better in Reason or another program.........................yaya i know there could be a million flaws to this test, etc. But hey lets try.



Ok, i was bored so i just made some garbage beat in two different software programs. One was Reason and one was another one.


I just made one track in reason, and redid the same one in another program with different sound, but the same arrangment. I did a quick 2 second mix, no compression or limiting in either.


Does one sound overall better in sound quality to u guys?


Yaya, i know the beat sucks, im just talking about the overall sound.

This is just more of a use your ears tests, its no scientific, i did some approximate level matching but not exact.

hey its actually just a transfered midi file i made, loaded with different sounds, so the arrangment is the same, just the way it was mixed (only the levels) are different, so ya it does sound a different.

Clip 2 has to be reason... it has that loss of high frequency clarity and crispness that I alway experience when I use reason.

Clip 1 = reason


Clip 2 = hypersonic.........i personally thought clip 2 was better.



Reason always seems to lose alot of low end in my experience.

NOPE, clip 1 is Reason 3.04.


Clip 2 = Hypersonic in Cubase SX3.


I do agree though that i sholud have level matched they WAY better.

But regardless of that, i still think its possible to tell sonic differences.

If there's enough interest me to match the levels much, more closer i will do it.

Hmmmm....

Didn't like the sound of clip 2 that much IMHO. Maybe it would be helpfull if you did retest.

the sounds for the rhodes in reason were very in your face,the hypersonic mix was softer and more balanced.
i know you could have got the same results in reason.

You need to redo this test using the EXACT SAME SOUNDS, level-matched at the mix stage. Until then, you're just guessing and wasting time...
