pro tools PEAK QUESTION

all these hip hop tracks from all these producers are so much louder when i compare them to my tracks. what type of plug-ins do u use to maximize the sound without peaking. like something that doesnt let the sound go over a certain amount while ur eqing and stuff. probly a dumb question but im not familiar with software engineering

if the mix is not builded to be loud it will not be loud in the end.
an real answer would take 500 pages. of course the pros have some special tools, but you can get real close with the usual stuff.

leave the headroom for your final processing. if its peaking lower the output.

i guess you are asking for a limiter. do a search on the forum.

good luck

L1 ultramaximizer, you can get the sound as loud, but typically youd want to leave room for the mastering guy... me, personally, for all my demos, i slam the shit out of them...and make em LOUD---why??? cause the average listener won't be able to spot your crude mastering job, and i'd rather it sound overcompressed, like its on the radio, then undercompressed... it just more exciting that way----okay, now all you mix guys can lash out at me for saying that....
