| Gear Head | Best Drum Sample Packs/Plugins?
I currently use a mix of packs I got off eBay and the Maschine library for drum samples played through the Mashine, I sometimes bust out BFD2 for more realistic drums, and I prefer Drumsynth Live (VST wrapped for PT) and Audio Realism DM for Synth Drums, but am always looking for better samples/plugs. What are you guys using for samples, plugins, and synths for your beats? Any highly recommended sample packs I should try? Thanks!

Native Instruments Battery is brilliant. It has all kind of stuff from multi-layered acoustic kits to the most computer sounding samples. Includes classic drum machines too, like 808, 909, CR-78 and Linn.

You have more than enough or at least you should. Gold baby sells good packs and there is always big fish audio that has a ton of them too. It really just depends on what you are looking for. For me I bought Addictive drums, I got a copy of giest with a magazine purchase and I am going to buy a drum synth eventually or figure out how to get Kong working with Sonar properly to get my synth drum sounds. You have to be resourceful and find what works best for you. There are not many bad tools out there from what I can tell. Its all a matter of what you want really.

Did anyone ever hear the eight Battery 3 Artist Kits that come out after the release? They were produced in collab with guys from the Gorillaz, Dobie, Jonny Fiasco, Pete Davis, Roccness, Santiago & Bushido, and Turntable Rockers.. I don't really know who some of those people are but when I heard the new kits at GC I was pretty impressed, esp for doing grimey hip-hop stuff. I was thinking of upgrading from Battery 2 to Battery 3 just for access to these kits. If anyone's ever heard em, what'd u think? Is there a sample pack out there that's similar or even better?
