Dilla Month : All Things Dilla.

Share your favorite Dilla joints, remixes, tributes.. videos, thoughts and experiences.

I have a few off jump:

How he flipped this sample is mind boggling.

Ray J????? 7 Rolls Royces outside?

My own personal tribute I created today.

Circa '97 (Dilla Dawg) - (Produced By Oh4!)

Let's see if we can keep this going the whole month of February.

This is probably my favorite Dilla joint...

De La Soul- Stakes is High - YouTube

Sh*t is f*cking classic man... but I also love a lot of his lesser listened to mix tapes he put out. I hope this thread takes off!

It really needs to. I'm surprised it only has like two post haha.

I would have to say...

is my favorite Dilla produced beat. Something about that vocal sample in there gives me the chills man. What makes it doper is ATCQ making a chorus over it and goes so perfect with the sample.

'F*ck the Police'

Seriously though, too much Dilla talk on the net, not enough praising of other legends...

Here is a 2 hour interview with Erykah badu (quite recent too). Really interesting watch. But she also goes into quite a bit of detail regarding Dilla - Highly recommended!

This is the hardest Dilla beat I've heard. It does something to me spiritually, can't quite grasp it.

Did you like Donuts the first time you listened to it? If not how long did it take you to get it?

Honestly man - and I'm sure I'll catch flack for this - I still don't like Donuts. I am an avid fan of pretty much all of Dilla's work, and I've listened to a huge portion of his published work, but I just can't seem to get into Donuts. I love the stuff he did with Slum, Jaylib, The Shining, Labcabin, Erykah, Common, and Tribe but I just can't. get. donuts. It seems like he's tryin to do a rock thing, but it's too out there to me. I find it boring. I think there's lots of good stuff, but it seems so unfocused to me (although I heard his original finished master of Donuts was only twenty minutes long, so that could also by why).

But I've also heard it called from people I respect things like "his masterpiece", and "perfect", and I'm a big fan of adopting the attitude that "it's not you, it's me" when it comes to listening to music (I find it helps me enjoy a lot more music, and grow as a musician when I make it my responsibility to find the joy in listening to it that they had when they made it). I'm sure Donuts will reveal itself to me when I'm ready to hear it, but for now...I'll be rockin' some Conant Gardens

Oh, also here's a Dilla track I haven't found the source of, but to me it's the ultimate weed song:
