Thread Starter | Kick Samples on seperate buss? Buss Everything?? Is it common pracitice to put kick samples on their own buss to compress? Also, should I try to buss as many tracks in their specific groups as possible (ex. synths, guitars, bg vox)? If yes, I'm assuming you would leave tracks like lead vocals and bass going straight to the master buss. Thanks.

| I think looking a real mixing board would help.. There are sub-mixes build in sometimes... So people are using them. What to use it on is up to you. No wrong... but "CONTROL" is the key word. If it helps give you more control or a better sound use it. |

| No rules, when you group tracks you do it for a reason, you dont do stuff because "it's done like that", you do what needs to be done to go where you wanna go...lol, no seriousely. Me personally I'm a shitty mixer, still with a lil guidance I've been able to mix some tracks good enough for TV licensing from my untreated bedroomstudio... Me, I bus my drums together, I might use some lil eq at sound level, honestly inside battery, if my hh need a lil more highs I'll just use the cell eq... on my drums buss I have some sort of saturation in parallel (dry/wet knob) and some sort of 1176ish parallel compression (dry wet again)... usually that's enough to make my drums sound good. for the rest it's pretty random. depends on the track. |

| I usually have the kick/s on a separate channel/buss and then sometimes I'll send it to the drum buss. Sometimes it works, sometimes I just leave kicks on their own channel or buss. |
