Synth1 is kinda cool. no presets but once you start tweaking it really comes to life. KVR: Synth1 by Ichiro Toda - Details Also AMVST offer a whole bundle of ok free stuff. Especially Retronix!! Freeware Synths | Angular Momentum I would also recommend Camels free demo version of Alchemy. Camel Crusher as has been said is also completely excellent. Theres potential in that for all sorts. https://www.camelaudio.com/getfreealchemyplayer.php Its a bit of a pain, but you can also download demo versions of Nomad Factory plug ins. They last for half an hour and then you have to restart it. you cant save presets. but if you dont mind working within those restrictions you get some really cool fx for free. you can record them!! the EQ's especially are amazing. Products - Nomad Factory Creative Software Company I think these i said are at least worth checking out. esp Nomad EQ's. Cheers. |

I'll look into that. Anybody know why SPAN won't work in Masxhine? Really wanted to try that.

Sir Elliot is almost unknown, but his Eqs are some of the best sounding. the preamps are also very nice and round sounding. http://sirelliot.blog.com/ Try these Sir Elliot 5-Band Equaliser ( so easy use in the mix ) Sir Elliot 31-Band Equaliser (the best low end you have ever heard, period) |

AcquaVox Nebula3 Free Bundle Some people rate these Minimoog and Arp2600 emulaions better than the arturia ones, I've not used them so I can't say/ Glen Stegner - Free VSTi Software Synthesizers Some classic freebies from Audio Damage: Audio Damage :: Free Downloads

I've tried pretty much all the plugins mentioned here so there were no surprises until this post. I grabbed a bunch of the preamps and EQ. So far the 32 band eq > 1977 pre on the 2-buss sounds fantastic in subtle doses.... I know I've over done it and scooped to much.. but will fix later. the others sound bretty good but the 1977 earned itself a place in my 'colour' folder easily.

Ive been through pretty much all of the recommendations on this page and have spent a little time this last 2 days experimenting with the best of them. Putting them to use on a track kinda thing. Ive gotta agree with what the 2 guys above say, SIr Elliot Ive never heard of before but they are the pick of the bunch. There's some which are better than others, but the ones that are good are really good. The 1977 as mentioned is cool as are the EQ's. To add to the list i also liked the Altered Dynamics Compressor. This lot are worth checking out. Joint second places. The TAL collection are must haves. Just could be useful on some occasions. But i also liked the Audio Damage Compressor. Some really cool additions to anyone's collection. The Valhalla free b worked well and I actually found use for it quickly. However when saving a project with this plug in open it basically had some sort of bug where the project would never open again. Im not sure if this thing is compatible with cubase 6. Something's up with it anyway, and its a shame cos it was working well. Makes me hesitant to spend some money on these and i was was basically planning to do that. |

The Vallhalla stuff is the best stuff out right now, never had any probs. Going back to Sir Elliot, yes 77 is very good, the 68 is quirky and you can really mess up some drum loops with it. another one i use is the GPA, with it set to tape 2. This it a neat trick to get rid of any harsh digial tranisients. Its not like a tape emu though. I use his peak limiter too when tracking so there is no overs. I havent used any of his comps though. My fave is the 31 band, not just for the amazing low end, but it can crunch and give a wicked saturation. Sir Elliot - Thoughts, Ideas, Inspirations. |
