I find a low pass set that high sounds a bit thin....wouldn't that cut alot of sub frequencies?

have you tried BBE's harmonic maximizer? thoughts?

it seems like most people are using multiple compressors and limiters on their masters......is that really necessary? why?
I meant High Pass depends on the "Q" so that ref freq is misleading. I do roll it off around 50 and bump the 60 depending on style (typically for rock to enhance the kick). All taste thought.

I have used a few things from BBE and, at first, liked what I heard. Honestly, the thing just strips the tone out and fakes some mids and lows. If you like it, hey, go for it!

Multiple compressors is not a must on the master buss. When I do ITB mastering I will use multiple compressors to ramp up the gain a bit so no single plugin is handling a ton of duties. I may run 3 comps with each instance having a lower ratio and make-up than the previous one. I try to use a transparent comp for this type of mastering. The SSL tends to be my favorite. I also, depending on the source, will add a small hpf between comps to keep the lows from building at each compression stage. Then, usually a sweetening EQ like the UAD 1073 or Harrison before the limiter.

I am waiting for the UBK-1 to come out with a VST version. That may change the way I master...

when I'm printing masters or ref. masters, couple different things.

BX Digital and Slate FG-X almost always.

Comp is either the UBK-1 or API2500, depending on if I want something with a little 'tude or just something to kind of move everything forward an inch (respectively).

Clariphonic EQ (hardware, not software, but the treble boost is badass).

I've been using an original and mult approach as of late

on the original I use this never going more then 2 db generally in GR...

Mpressor->EMI TG1242-> UAD PEQ->UAD PBC->PSP Master Comp->Brainworx Digital->Wavles L2

mult where I mix it with the original to taste

UAD Neve 33609->UAD Pultec Pro->Color Tone Pro->Brainworx Solo-> sonalksis ultimate dither
