SIR Reverb - rated highly!

I have heard many good things about this reverb and apparently its free. Some engineers played me tracks using this one and it sounds pretty good. But I am not sure..........is it just their skill of engineering or is the verb really that good?

Tony, Filter, Meth?Anyone else heard or used this plugin yet?I'm gonna check it out this week some time as well, but would like to know what others make of it, if you've tried it before. Not sure if its for Mac as well.Think it may be.

Yes SIR is free and yes it's good. It a convultion reverb and you can find planty of wav. files with impulses here an there in the net. I like it a lot!
The only disadventage is that it has a quite a big latecy.
Besides I don't think there's a version for Mac.

Go to Noise Vault and download a ton of free impulses, contributed by members.

You'd also do well to read Martin Walker's articles on this.

I run Logic on a Mac, so I'm unable to use it... I use Altiverb and I think it's great! With all of these convolution reverbs, the key is finding really good IR's.

SIR Reverb is the only reverb I use from now on !!

Altiverb is the weapon of choice for Mac (can't help thinking of this Fatboyslim track when saying this ^^).

Yeah, Tony is on point. The secret is really your impluses more then anything. I like SIR a lot because it gives you some real nice control. Google for the 24 bit lexicon impulses..the snare plate is sick.

SIR is great. I still use version 1.08 on a P4 3.2. I start a mix session with a template that has 4 of them running with 960L samples running. The thing about SIR is that is sounds as good as the sample do. There are allot of great samples on noisevault. There also allot of poor ones. I compared the 960L samples to a real 960L and was amazed. There is no extensive control which makes the 960L a monster but the sounds on the presets are nearly identical. You really have to do allot of preset jumping but it sounds so much better than all the other plug verbs.

SIR is the best free convolution based tool!!!
The guy who programmed it is now in buisness with Wizzoo Verb W2!!
He`s very talented and gets things right for the audio needs.
I agree with Tony, the key is gettin very good IR`s! There are very good libaries
on the market. The cost is between 50 -100$ and you get very good samples. (24bit - Lexicon, TC etc.)

I use Sir for a very long time the only thing what is driving me mad is the latency and the big cpu consumption but hey its free!

ciao& greets
