How much to upgrade to pro from that? Better than the 299 from any other daw?

299 to go to professional and 99 to go to producer. 120 for producer is a steal IMO. |

it's stupid professional is the only one that's 64 bit, I would have gone producer til then, now I'd need to think on it more. If you have a receipt or upc code for any other daw i think it's 299 for professional too (and you don't have to pay the 20 to get artist) I definitely don't need another daws. What are the major drawbacks of studio one? |

| That's why i have yet to jump on it. What's the point of unlimited tracks, buses and FX channels if the 32bit arch. is going to cramp my style.

Producer actually is 64-bit. It just doesn't allow "double precision" DSP in the mix engine... only Pro does that. That listing in the comparison chart is for the double precision mix engine, not for 64-bit app versions. 32-bit float mix engine, 64-bit everything else... if you launch the 64-bit version. |

It's all the same software really. It's the reg codes and/or license file(s) that turns on features and/or shows more content on the web page for downloading. I mean, if you have Artist and upgrade to Producer, you won't have to download it and install it again, it will just enable more features when you get the new license activated locally, and you'll see more content online. Artist doesn't allow 3rd party plugs so if you want to test your 3rd party instruments and all that (and maybe not miss the $20 sale, not sure when it ends) buy an Artist license but just install the Pro demo to play with before upgrading to Producer. It doesn't have it's own bit bridge though so unless you have JBridge or something you won't be able to load 3rd party 32-bit plugs in the 64-bit version. |
