Massive VS Albino

I don't own any decent synth plugins. I'm looking for one with a ton of versatility. These are the two names that seem to come up the most. I know nothing about synths, so when I demoed both of these, I didn't really have enough time to fully learn either. Both of these are packed with features that would take someone who knows nothing about synths a good couple of months to learn. I'm just getting real sick of xpand2 for my sounds and want to upgrade to something that I can make own (after some practice with synth generation). I've tried doing a ton of reading on these through google searches, but in the end, I trust you guys the most. Which one do you prefer/recommend. I did do some searching on here through gearslutz and never really found any good back to back comparisons on the pros and cons of each.

They're both about the same price so money isn't really an influence...I want to know which one is more expandable too (in your opinion).

I'd get omnisphere before either one of those but it's quite a bit more expensive and at 40gb a lot bigger too... So

Massive is more programmable and has more virtual buttons and knobs. It's not bad, I'm not a big fan of the sound or the complexity though.
So I would recommend Albino, it's a good synth that gives you almost as many options as massive but doesn't look like a daunting mess when you dig into it. It's a lot easier to program and thats because the layout is a bit more friendly.

I agree - Omnisphere before either but Albino over Massive. I will also recommend Zebra 2 over either of these which is less expensive than Omnisphere and about the same as the others. Zebra is much deeper than Albino as well.

Omnisphere is 2.5x the cost of massive

Massive is amazing, and I didn't like albino when I demo'd it.

It's also not an omnisphere or massive scenario as eventually you'll want both (they cover entirely different ground).

Massive might have complex parts to it, but it's really easy to get all the custom user sound banks for free on the internet and then start learning synthesis from there. It's a really really really good soft synth, probably the best thing native makes.

I feel that you will get bored of Albino

Massive is a lot of fun and you get some solid results once you understand even the basics of the programming, which is also very user friendly in my opinion. Take it section by section and you will find a creative workflow for yourself depending on your experience, I for which have very little when it comes to programming but this is the first vsti I decided I was going to learn for synthesis and so far im excited and pleased with the results, I have been a preset guy for about 5-6 years, all iv ever done is tweak certain parameters but never created anything from scratch.

I also have about 10+ preset packs Ive purchased (some free) throughout the last few years in Massive and they sound amazing a lot of variety and some really clean and powerful sounds for use in any sort of productions..

Albino is nice and all but If I had to choose Massive hands down

You should look into Zebra 2 and Sylenth as well.

Massive over albino, for sure.

I personally love FabFilters Twin2. It's some what basic, but because of its amazing modulation system it can be as complicated and deep as you want it to be.

But if I had to pick one of the two, it would be Massive hands down!

if having to choose between those 2 id say albino has more sounds and larger set of libraries u can add on if your not really a synth tweakier. that being said i love omnisphere for sound quality and sheer number of presets. sylenth to me has some of the best cutting leads. so if u really want power get omnisphere, sylenth, and alchemy and your set.

Albino is getting on in age, it's quite a bit older. In addition to those already mentioned I'd recommend you have a look at Sylenth 1, DCAM synth squad and Zebra 2.

Omnisphere ...sylnth..massive all good synths ... I would defo go omni if your money can stretch.if not would go for sylnth. Not that albino massive are worse but they have a sound ...can I ask are you a preset guy? Now be honest because if you are the presets in synth like massive suck.balls in my opinion.

I bought Omnisphere and Massive, OMNISPHERE best $400 ever spent, Massive, best $100 I ever spent. I don't have albino so I cant vouch.

I really appreciate all the responses, due to trying to not spend too much money, I believe Omnispheres out of the question for me, but besides that...It seems like Massive is the general consensus, which is what I assumed. Can't wait for tax season...Grace M101 and Massive
