This guy sounds like he's moaning about the new MPC Ren, but he makes some good points. |

lol somebody posted this in another thread... I thought it was funny though when he was like "Say you're in the studio....and it's time to break out... and we ready to go??? You gotta turn that sh*t OFF" |

I'm about to look up this "beat thang". I can see all of his points, but the only point I can firmly agree on is that being tethered to a laptop puts a limit on what you can do. I don't know too many producers that work on beats on the train or in the car, but that doesn't mean that none do

"If you still sample from record players... I use YouTube, so no sifting through the crates for me." But the Beat Thang does have a really cool pad layout. |

After looking up, the beat thang, it looks cool. It costs abou $1500 and it is more standalone centered. My problem with that is that after using MPC's and other drum machines for years, I hate their UI! I'd rather be tethered to a laptop honestly. Especially for $1000 to 1200 cheaper. The beat thang looks cool as hell for a person that doesn't like using a computer as much as a standalone unit Sent from my SGH-T959 using Gearslutz.com |

![]() When I posted these video's, I was just trying to say that there are a few other alternatives that should be considered. Back in the day, I use to stand by a name of a product, many times I still do in certain things. ( over the years some companies have lost their credibility ) (Many companies are not the same) that we know from better products that we trusted years ago...many of us forget that. Case & Point....I bought an air conditioner because it said Maytag only to find out when I needed a part that it was a company who leased the name from Maytag, and it ended up being crap. (Although this was not musicale gear) That was not what I paid for and some other companies are doing the same thing. So you need to be aware and educate yourself. In' today's economy, I find that 1.) how and what that product can do for me and will it accommodating my needs? 2.) how is the craftsmanship, how have the revues been on this product from people who will use it like me? 3.) Never be the first to jump at an unproven peace of gear because it sound like the best thing sense slice bread. Companies spend lots $$ of money $$$ making you think that it's the best. - don't be the Ginny pig. Those principles have become more important than the name of musical gear for me. & blessings.
