Headphones You Currently Use ?

I've been using the Sony MDR-7506's for almost 10 years now and love em, for recording, mixing, producing, tracking and everything.

How bout y'all ?

Same here. Love em. I like using something that's been tested and proven time and time again since I was in elementary.

KRK KNS 8400.

Got them as a cheapish emergency replacement last month, have been impressed so far.

Not amazing by any stretch, but for the price, I'm fairly happy with what I'm hearing.

I'm using the same, but I need a new pair since mine have taken a beating.

EX-29 extreme isolation headphones for tracking and live FOH work. MUCH better isolation than the 7506's and they sound good. Try em, your drummers will LOVE you! I use AKG K240s to check studio mixes though.

I use Shure 440s. I really like the sound although they get a bit painful after I have them on my head for a certain period of time.

I thought you're not supposed to mix on headphones?

A cross reference doesn't hurt...

Hd25-1 ii. I hate the connectors on these though. They're exposed so the connecting cables (for cups) touch your head and mess up the sound (no sound at all, stereo sounds panned to right, etc).

Akg 240s. These are the most comfortable... Long sessions: they can make all the difference. I don't care how much better any set of phones are if I don't like how they feel on my Mellon.

Mine are the Audio Technica ATH-M30's (or maybe M35?s, I forget). They sound great except for lacking of bass. I actually listen to them through an EQ to fix the bass and further tailor the sound. I know this is totally taboo, but somehow I've gotten it to work out.

I will probably upgrade to some other type of similar Audio Technica headphones that are full range. The ones I have are specifically designed to prevent ear fatigue. And I think they succeed at this. Also their stereo imaging and detail is very clear. I noticed it right away.

I used to use the Sennheiser HD280 PROs but the foam wore out quickly and they even started clipping. And they are also somewhat harsh sounding in the upper midrange. Their bass is really full and maybe even overkill. Because they didnt last very long and because they do cause ear fatigue, I will never buy from Sennheiser again. I did like the acoustic isolation of the Sennheisers, but what's the point with the other problems?

Shure 840's

Looks sick, Are REALLY comfortable, and sound great! I'll admit, I bought these because of the way they looked. The good quality is a bonus!

After trying out around 8 sets. I agree the dt770 are the winners for flat and studio work. They are by far the most comfortable. It's that fabric they use on the ear its like a pillow for my ears. Also like the 280 pros I heard when with matt Weiss.
