Had the 770's, imo they have too much/undefined bass extension and some exaggerated high frequencies which can be annoying in different monitoring cases... The M50's have a much more balanced bass to low mid information and the highs are real nice to de-ess with... Overall a pretty good set of headphones especially within this price region...

For the guys who plan to buy the M50's: they need a loooot of burn in time, but once they burn in you'll have almost another set of cans... Much less agressive than in the first month...

Another ATH-M50 user here. Still not 100% on what the bass is doing exactly on those things but they cool... they do the trick. Best bang for the $$ I had a t the time anyway.

I'm using ath-m30's for DJ'ing because they are very comfortable especially now they have had a couple of years of use and ath-m50's which I've just got for mixing and or composing (I'm into electronic music).

Same pair of Sony MDR-7506's for 15 years. Leather on ear pads and head band pealing and flaking, but the damn things still work great.

Looking for slightly better bass response so I'm thinking of picking up the ATH-M50's this weekend. I hope they don't disappoint.

I've seen a lot of people give love to the Senheisser 280 HD's , and I've got the HD 380's and "LOVE THEM" ! Very comfortable and very flat and clean neutral sound for the price .

I use two. Sennheiser HD 600 for crazy detail in the highs. I like to compose and do my initial mix with these. and Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro for better low end mixing and to make sure my mids aren't too loud. These seem to really push the mids too and I can quickly tell if my snare is to loud or not with these guys. Plus they are closed so i will record instruments and vox.

I use the Sony MDR-7509. Smoother sounding than the 7506.

I only use headphones for tracking and super late night, can't sleep type of thing. So sound quality isn't my goal. I use ATH-M30's. They isolate very well and sound good. I mean everything sounds good, the worst mixes in the world sound great. I actually like them for that because artists tend to feel more confident as they like how they are sounding just straight out the mic. I wouldn't recommend them for much else.

I have the m50s and want to get a pair of 650s, is there anything you could tell me about the sound comparing the two?

im rocking the Sony MDR 7506's. they are really flat which is good but oddly sometimes i see myself mixing better with them on some days than others. I wish i had a lil more bottom end but they are pretty accurate
