I think the Numark MPC range should get cheaper... and I'm seeing quite a few on ebay since the announcement but like the person above I'm holding on to my MPC 2000 XL... aint nothing like them soft cushion pads.

My MPC 60mkI, 3000LE and 5000 are all standalone so they aint going anywhere.

The Ren seems cool and if the software is tight my Maschine might just see eBay.

MPC's are super cheap right now. So cheap that it hasn't been worth me selling the one I still own, or the few I have sold in the past years, even though I got decent prices. You can get plenty of models for under $400 without looking hard or being a savvy buyer. I bet they don't go down but if they do, in a while they will probably go up when they are "vintage" enough.

i'm about to sell my mpc 60 mk2 for 900-1000 euros this weekend. I'll probably cop an mpc 500 and an analog synth (used slim phatty) with that amount.

You can get an mpc 1000 for like $350 on ebay if your pateient, and mpc2000's go for like 250-300.

I'd go with one of those over the 500. because the price difference isnt that much, and the 2000/1000 are complete production stations, where the 500 is very limited.

yeah i've been looking at those. The 2000xl definately needs to have a CF reader. I've owned a 1k before and liked it too. Portability is the main reason i was looking at the 500.

Software always goes down in value, never up. Hardware will maintain some value, but it all depends on the demand. The numark shit will fall first. The legacy mpcs will be the last to lose value

This can't serve as a replacement for some of us, so we wont sell. I want to use it in conjunction with my mpc. If the software isn't legit, expect the price of mpc's to stay stable or maybe rise. People who prefer hardware wont be easy to convert. Workflow has to be the same or very similar to do so.

They already dropped in price with the success of DAWs for music production.
I don't expect them to drop much more if any at this point.

Especially the supported ones 1k 25k 5k and 500.

I got an ad in the mail from GC the other day and the 1000 had like a $200 rebate and the price was "listed as price to low to list" so I'm guessing it dropped from the reg price it's been at.

going from any of the bigger models (1000, 2000xl ...) down to the 500 is a PITA. i've tried it two times myself.
it's a toy, not a production machine.

Outside of the Slim being priced well, any reason not to get a MPC2000XL this day and age?

Even if the slim is priced well I'd still get a mpc.
They both have value in my workflow. Unless the Akai software mimics the mpc workflow by 98%, I wouldn't consider them interchangeable

Yeah, I have a MPC 1000 with JJOS and MPD 16/24 to use with Kong. The issue I have with the MPC is I have the old pads, awful time stretching on the 1000 and the lack of tilt screen.

I love the MPC workflow more than anything, it's fast as hell.

I figure the Slim could be the best of both worlds sans the tilt screen.

Got my 2000xl and SP1200 put to the side. 2000 is just back up if my 4000 goes down. I didn't think of the 2000 being worth much.

Heres what will happen

new series of mpcs get released after NAMM
people jump on bandwagon and get new mpc just to remain trendy (even tho their old samplers/sequencers are perfectly fine and get job done)
people on forums will start commenting how they dont sound "warm" as "vintage" mpcs and how software is unstable and updates from akai are rare compared to NI
over night prices on eBay for legacy mpcs (60 and 3000) will increase and situation will be similar to fairchild, pultec, and neumann u47 hype in early/mid '00s, so you have item that was sold for 3-4k sell on ebay for 12k because of forum hype.
even now old mpcs and emu sp's are overpriced on ebay...

Will MPCs get cheaper when the new line drops

The mpc 1000 and 2500 are amazing machines. Their sound very much represents the sounds of today just like those 12 bit samplers represented the sounds of 20 years ago. The workflow is second to none imo

yeah if your gonna buy an mpc.. at least get a 1000. The 1000 and 2500 can run JJOSXL.. and once you have an mpc.. you'll realize its just not the same with JJOSXL.
I have a 2500 with JJ in it and love it. That additions and the increased workflow.. I couldn't live without it now. Makes the mpc much more intuitive.

Nope. Buying a 1000 or 2500 or 5000 is not necessary. It might be for some people, but definitely not everyone, for making quality hip hop music, that is

Agreed, most of the discounted MP's that I've seen do not have the necessities like JJos 2 (Not the free JJos) or for the MPC-1000 Better Pads from MPC-Stuff which was a must have for me that's an increase of $80 right there.
Average price I seen it for is between $600 - ''$999'' for a New MPC-1000.
I guess you could find ''bare bone MP's'' on E-bay lower prices bid out there..Lol.
Remember-most will need modifications that will bring your price back up.

& blessings.

I have noticed eBay getting flooded with MPC 1000 and 2500s since the announcement of the new gear, and that generally means lower prices. I would strongly consider the 1000 if your in the market for a 500.
