You can see the back on the home page, on the video still that loads automatically. Or just load the video in HD.

It's just a controller with an integrated sound card. Looks like they have a cut down 'controller only' ready to launch, too.

I'm really interested, as Maschine user. I've never really liked the Maschine sequencer. It's basically way too complicated to use, and so never became second nature to me.

I really, really want Logic to be able to take midi input from an AU - or i don't care if the Akai software is up to scratch. But has Akai really ever made any decent software? Hmm. And the software guy looks a bit cack.

I bet this is expensive, especially the full on renaissance version.

Still, i'm excited, as this is the longest post i've written in a while

"Vintage Mode changes output sound character to MPC3000, MPC60 and more"

I really wanna know if this is a hardware mod or just software emulation. Either way looks dope as ****! I want one! how much is it?

It looks like it allows tracking in via USB says it just has spdif and,I think, just one 1/4" out. Doesn't look expandable either. Not sure about that move but it depends on the sound thru USB I suppose. Good to see they included software and the mpc 60 and 3000 sound, however that works, considering its not thru converters. I hoped for a price with all the promo.

Is this thing a stand alone machine + controller, or just a controller? Is there any onboard storage or RAM? Not sure why a software controller would need audio outs. More info needed for sure.

Yeah, it's gotta be emulation via the onboard electronics and/or software, since there's only one 1/4" out.

It's a controller + usb audio interface. Looks to me as if everything runs on your computer, including the "vintage mode" emulation shit.

*Yawn*.

Maybe the iPad app will be good, but I'll probably stick with Beatmaker2 or NanoStudio.

At least now we won't have to worry about any more "MPC vs Maschine" threads, LOL. I wonder if it has 8 outs.

it looks like a controller + sound card to me. So in theory you would run your monitors out of the MPC instead of say your Digi rack or apogee if you were using something Maschine. Some of the Korg and Maudio controllers do this same thing. not sure how all that would work if you want to use a mic that relies on phantom power during the session though...

it looks cool though. I wonder if it will work like Maschine 1.7 does with the preset/plugin hosting

yeah, they've got the vintage mode listed on the hardware side of their page (and they've got a bunch of features listed in the software side), so it's likely to be the real thing.

There are ways to do it with hardware, but I fear you are probably right

AWWW sh**t! Akai has been busy. I'm a maschine user but I have to check this out. I don't like the way maschine handles it's sequencing. Coming from a mpc 4000 it was a lot to get used to. Glad to see Akai finally wake the f**k up!

sounds just like macshine, or some software mpc emulation from the demo, has that same thin/grainy/hollow computer sound. The software would be cool to mess with just as a sequencer. Not sure why akai never released their own DAW when most agree they make the best sequencers.

I think it's both. It has a power button in the back. I don't think it would need a power button if it was just a controller

Trust me it don't. It sounds great.
Don't judge it by the music in the video.

Midi, what do you think the price is going to be. I'm using Maschine and came from a 2000XL before that. Thx

You were wrong. Its a midi controller / soundcard.
At least I got the midi controller part right in my first prediction hahaha.

Im gettin that sh$t..........
Selling every thing I can to get it. I was looking at gettin Maschine again after 1.7 dropped but... nahhh son. This looks like it might be what I was hoping Maschine 2.0 would be.

This and the 2500 LE on the same team... 2012 is gonna be silly... hahahaha!

I am not impressed. It's strictly software based. A glorified MPD. I'll pass on this and stick to the real MPC's thanks. Never really been a fan of Nu Akai anyway.

I like that it looks substantial, i feel like the Maschine hardware is pretty cheap and shabby feeling.

I think the slimline will be the direct Maschine competitor, though.

It's not really an MPC - just a controller/interface... Just another Maschine...

Otherwise they'd have listed polyphony and other relevant specs etc...

Having audio and midi I/o already makes it more appealing than Maschine ever was. Doubt I'll make the switch though, but they're already a step ahead, to me.
