What is the point of all these beat battles?

I can see how it might be fun for the teenagers, but what do audio professionals (most of us) get out of battling each other with the same sounds? I don't get it...

Isn't hip hop about digging for your own sounds (whether from vinyl or synths, etc)....

I may on occasion talk about some of the products I am a dealer for in my posts.. and that's OK! I sell them because I like them. Not vice versa. It's more fun to talk about things you know and love, then things you don't.

This would be appropriate in a forum like futureproducers, but here? Cmon, lets grow up a little before and realize where we are. GS isn't child's play.

First of all Huge Prize doesn't equate to $200... Secondly is it Dope Provided Sound or Dope Sound Provided... if your gonna be cheesy at least be consistent...

If it was a downloadable session file or .bwavs... where you can import the audio into your Daw and submit a mix (along with track notes) for Tonys DVD as a prize... then you might be taken seriously...

Please do us all a favor and cop a banner to advertise... My most pressing question is what is Killah getting out of this... most of us are already pretty allergic to any thread he posts in or better yet starts...

i don't think anyone's being emotional. they're just saying that this probaly isn't the place for it. like rjx said, futureproducers and that kind of forum is certainly a better place for this sort of thing. i really don't think anyone's trying to be "macho" here... or dissing you or your contest.
personally, i just think this type of thing is more suited for the kid with the little bedroom studio setup next to his nintendo, hoping to one day be doing something professionally.

I don`t know what to say,I mean free sounds,a cool prize, sharpening your skillz in battle, that sounds like fun to me..
Also each battle a handful of PRO producers with ALBUM credits come out..
I guess it not too small time for them..

I think its great and I REALLY enjoy going through all the battle beats, seeing how everyone flips and blends the samples..
The bottom line is you need SKILL to pull off a victory at the SFS arena so any PRO cats who might be in the game out of luck might think twice about battling all these ill as hungry up and coming beat makers that are reppen there beats in battle..
