Stylus RMX

hey boss,

RMX has a few useable beats but Eric Persing-as talented as he is has NO IDEA how to program dope hip hop beats. 99% of the beats are crazy wack. The other 1% are played out... DON'T waste your money man-seriously.

Peace,

Fess

i find all it's good for is groove elements ie: hihats, shakers, rides, congas, bongos, and any other percussion that goes under your kicks and snares. I guess it could be really handy for doing tv commercials and things like that, but for hip hop i don't think i would ever use a full drums loop

i disagree. i think it depens on what you want to use it for.. not everyone is trying to program 50 cent/hard hip hop beats. you don't even have to use their grooves. program them or whatever. i admit that i mainly use stylus for percussion. it's hard to beat what it can do.

I like to use RMX for my own sounds. Program a beat, save it as a REX file. Load that up into RMX and play with the chaos designer and fx section for hours. It also can be used for melody lines and parts. Get creative with it.

Its all about being creative you can acheive anything within reason (I dont mean the programme but hey maybe u can lol) with creativity and drive and it seems like you can get really creative with the Stylus, these new peices of software seem to be opening up and becoming alot more flexable! You can normally tell how good a peice of software or hardware is when you are watching someone who knows what they are doing use it and how many times u go NO WAY THATS SH*T HOT! lol or you think, ive always wanted to be able to do that! having your loops improvise with the sliding of a fader isone of those things!

Yeah don't use it, it's horrible. (you idiots)

It's one of the most powerfull plugins that I've ever seen. I don't use the loops, they ARE useless. BUT, and here is the big BUT, there's this thing called kit mode, and you have millions and millions of different ways you can use it in this mode. Edit each sound, pick a different kik or snare, filter it, do whatever with it. Kit mode is the best way to use it. If you actually use it, then you will see how VERY powerfull this program is. Plus, it's got more drums than any other plug out there.

Battery, which I own, SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No support, no updates to fix problems, user forums are horrible, can't get in touch with NI for shite and it's a super CPU hog. I'd gladly sell mine if you don't believe me.

Linplug RMIV is much much better, if your looking at these drum mods.

Funny thread.....

One word 'Stylus RMX Rocks' actually that's 3 words ! Great sounds , drag and drop midi files that you can manipulate and use other sounds in place of the 'Groove element' sounds , fantastic library for hip hop, electronica , dance, soundtrack music, and then there is the stuff for the sonic adventurous ! You have multi-mode, kit mode, fantastic effects , the ability to expand your sounds etc etc....

Whats a Hip Hop sound ? Does a Hip Hip sound become a Hip Hip sound when you hear a HipHop/RnB producer use it ? The Neptunes seem to find Hip Hop drum sounds in a Korg Trinity module best thing is to have options, something that the Stylus RMX gives you and them some at a great price IMO.

Stylus RMX combined with Recycle is a powerful combination indeed.

You can take ANY audio (beat, bassline, gtr riff, keys) and convert it to REX thru Recycle. Then import the REX2 file into STYLUS RMX and filter it, Chaos it, effect it, sequence it.

You don't have to only use the stock files, you can use ANY REX2 files, plus make your and use your own.

It's a powerful tool....the user controls it's productivity.

Man, I was with you until I read this. I guess everyone is different, but Battery is just the shit for me.

But I agree with everything else. Stylus is definitley not meant for just using its loops. The key is to make your own loops, REX them and then import them...thats when you utilize what stylus does.

For example, I'll fiire up the ol telecaster and track 8 bars of a lick. Then Ill REX it and bring it in and resample it in RMX. Try doing shit like that.
