McDSP does it get any better?!?

I've seen these in Action Yeserday on a Pro Tools HD System.

http://www.mcdsp.com/index.php

Was very impressed by CB4 (Compressor Bank) and The Tape Saturation Analog Channel???

Do they really sound soo Great or was I imagining it all ?!?!?!

Are there any plugs for VST hosts that come close to the sound of these Fkers!!?!?!??

I guess URS would come close to these ??? I have not heard them in action Yet

Doesn't get better - URS are cool though. I couldn't live without the McDSP MC2000 for mastering.

they are definetly the best plug as fars as sound and price are concerned. I don't use the eq all that much. Compressor bank is so good. I definetly could not live without that one.

well, real tape is better... and real analog EQs are better..

but for moving bits around the McDSP stuff is cool.

I miss them since I switched to Logic from PT... But, I have found other plugins that are as good if not better at things.

Some of the URS EQ's are better than Filterbank... I really miss analog channel, though. So much so, that it caused me to re-think the way I mix. I now have a new, better solution that is ANALOG for my stereo buss.. and it only costs a little more than the plugin...

And NO, I'm not going to tell you what it is!..... YET!

Whatup Tony

Tony. You mean a piece of outboard Gear to get the Tape sound ? I know what youre talkin about B!!
My boy was tellin me how this Guy stopped using his Tape machine after they sent him that thing, They not bothered bout tape anymore since it arrived!! Thats in a place where they do Top 20 Joints

Anyways whats compressor alternatives are there? I am just about to pick up a UAD-1 Card, do you think thats a good choice to get some Analog type plugs??

What else can you recommend, other than Waves SSL, URS ??
Might even look into getting a powercore, Outboard gear is too much Hassle and too expnesive

Not so much the tape, but the console sound...

As far as the UAD, and Powercore... I wouldn't buy any of those. Computers have come a long way, and you don't really need these external DSP boxes. And, if you want the UAD-1 because of the plugs, now is the wrong time to buy it, as they should have a new product coming shortly to replace the UAD.

I would look at the URS and Waves stuff... The Sonalksis plugins are also pretty good. The Waves SSL are also good, but much more CPU intensive. I can get 10 x as many A MIX EQ's from URS, as SSL channel strips.

Basically, if you are looking for EQ's, buy the URS plugins... download the demos and try them out yourself. Compressor wise, the 1970 and 1980 are great and it looks like they may have something new coming soon, too.

The best thing is you can easily try all this stuff out before you buy it.

Wink

Mixing through AC1 on the console 1,2, or 3 has revolutionized my mixes. You just gotta put em on at the very begining of your session so that all mix decisions are influenced by the AC1. I use it on EVERY single ITB mix.

BTW, I cam up with that concept and Charles Dye bit me. ;) just playin....

I still havent even really explored teh CompressorBank yet but Im sure it'll be hot.

Are they planning to make these in VST ?

Cuz I've never seen any RTAS to VST adapters.

RTAS to VSt

RTAS to VST would require a licence from Digidesign, I doubt they would want anyone to make an adapter

just Get a HD1 and 2 Apogees 16s with that X card

I am considering getting an MBOX just to have access to these and the the Soundtoys plugins. Can anyone suggest any alternatives to Analogue Channel. Has anyone tried MCDSP LE version?

Soundtoys are coming out with VST and AU later in the year.

Plugins interest me a lot as does the hardware. I lost an email where soundtoys said something like

Soundtoys are coming out with VST and AU later in the year

I cannot remember if they said PC though. They been mentioning doing AU. Not too sure what will happen.

Both MCDP and soundtoys would be fun but it all cost a lot. Oh well.

How are you finding the distressor SIrocco. What do you use it for?

I personally love Channel G from McDSP, best overall ITB channelstrip imho, and very versatile.

Hopefully it is a tape saturation emulation.

Yeah, URS stuff is good.. I love the SSL and API EQ on drums.. There not as musical as MDW, but they give character..
