Korg padKontrol vs. M Audio Trigger finger

I really need a MIDI drum controller, both units are the same price so I'm wondering how you guys are feeling about them?

Thanks

A long time ago my friend who works at guitar center always said that the trigger finger was the best all around, but their basically the same. Midi Keyboard controllers is a bit more understandable to start a thread about but yea either one should treat you right.

Have you thought about the akai one? I use it, it is based on the akai mpc series, the mother of all sample pad devices

Thanks guys.

I was wondering more about how solid the boxes are, how they feel to work with, etc. etc.

And thanks for the AKAI suggestion, I hadn't really considered it actually.

The build on the Trigger Finger is really good. Definatly the best build of any M-Audio gear I've used. It's nice and heavy. Dosen't feel like a toy.

My money went to the Trigger Finger. Solid feel and it travels well.

I had the AKAI pad, it was awful. Returned it in two days, and I rarely do that.

I'm a drummer though...it was more the concept that turned me off, and not the device so much. I was hoping it would be the solution to all my problems, it wasn't.

I quite like the akai one, its simple and works well. It has a usb and a midi output. As used by lincoln park! (saw a couple of them on their live video), not tht I'm really a fan of LP, but that guys got a hell of a pair of lungs..

Man, that is a nice drum module! The flam and the roll functions have me sold. And the size of that thing... Looks like a real piece of gear. I can't wait to get it and try it with Battery 2!

I actually own a Korg Padkontrol.

Here are some things to take into account:

No matter where you hit the pads they trigger thumbsup , even the furthest corners . There is also no false flam trigger issue that happens on MPCs, especially when you new are new to an MPC

The pads are slightly smaller than MPC's except the MPC1000. And the spacing in between is farther apart than the MPC's

The drum roll and flam function is not tempo sync(at least I haven't found out how). You have to manually insert the value, and it rolls to the value you into. I do think that Korg can easily update the Padkontrol to sync...

If you are use to drumming with two fingers per pad, than you will have to adjust to a 1 finger per pad technique

But overall I think it better than the Trigger Finger and MPD16.

Well, I just ordered the Korg. It doesn't seem like either one would be a bad choice.
