Well you know there are all those all keyboard style samplers, I guess Im also reffering to those then there are like 4-5 different kinds.

| Lives for gear | no in reason there are 2 samplers and 2 synths. u could use the samplers as synths with ur samples but thats another road for another day. use each one of the machines to ur advantage there is no best. I like the nn19 for composing w/ presets but when I actually sample in reason I like the NNXT unless Im looping then I like the Dr Rex if I want to make synth sounds I use which ever synth is best for the job i want there is no best everything is just a little different

I use the NNXT more that the NN19, because I like to have more option, plus I can open NN19 sound with XT. On Synth I use Malstrom for lead synth and Substractor for bass, but the my go to always is the Combinator (its one of the greatest upgrades, I like the Master stuff, too..but I like to mix on Protool more).

When using Reason, one must skip Reasons internal mixing bus, and use the multiple outs instead. Sum using a digital mixer, or analog, or sumbox.....you will be surprised. Ohhh yeah, good samples help too rock sdf

The Props could make me a real fan of the NNXT if they'd only put in a waveform view--setting a start/end/loop point in a large-ish sample with those knobs is super frustrating. Other than that, there's something to be said for a program that I don't think ever crashed on me once. And sometimes it's good for stacking stuff without overdoing it on the mass--kinda like Mutt & Def Leppard with the Rockmans. Peece, T. Tauri

i second that mixing bus situation.... reason needs you to kick it in da mouth a bit so just Bypass the mixing bus and run it through outboard gear huge difference in my opinon.. i use it actually the stuff i did with Ginuwine, was all in reason on his latest album Back to da basics.. thing was i didnt get a chance to run couple of the ideas through any of gear so... but other than that luvin reason and live together hot stuff! -ill Factor www.illfactormusic.com

I use reason rewired into PT. Just route the synths straight to the reason soundcards relevant channels and open up reason on insert on an aux track in PT. It doesnt sound brilliant but its good to have on hand.

Yeah, I heard stuff made on Reason that really flipped my mind......its really bout how u use that prog. Also, their sounds that come with it are not bad, but if ur a digger, keep digging and using some more of ur own custom sounds and instrument samples. But I am impressed more and more with the stuff that guys and gals do with this software.I've heard some madd Dilla style stuff on it, and now recently heard a producer come with the Aftermath heat on it too.And he used str8 Reason plugs........I was very impressed.Sound quality was there too. I have heard this debate, also, before about the sound quality not being there.I think this problem is when u mix internally and stick with Reason strictly. Many have opted for rewiring or exporting to Cubase or Nuendo and then mixing everything in there. That does seem like the better option. What bout mixing in Sony Acid Pro?Any drawbacks?Curious, as I've seen many guys doing this of late.

i export each instrument as a loop individually, like drums at once, one synth at once etc. and open them in individual tracks in PT and i can mix from there and it sounds pretty fat. the only problem i have is laziness where i export all drums as a loop open them up in pro tools but then i cant eq the kick by it self or the snare so theres not much i can there. i guess im going to start import each drum as its own loop so i can then eq them....but for synths and overall cohesiveness reason instruments sound good exported individually

i love it! but i have 2 wishes for upcoming versions: 1. integrate recycle into reason(for a better workflow) 2. graphical display of the loaded waveform in one of the samplers(like in battery) for the reason-lovers: http://www.peff.com/journal/2006/01/...late-tutorial/
