What site do you put your music on?

the number one and most popular choice used to be Myspace.......I was never fond of how shitty your music sounded on it and the cap on uploads....now perhaps they have improved some of these features, but it feels like Myspace has died off as the popular medium now.....

that said, what do you all feel is the ultimate, new Myspace if you will, to showcase your material?

or how about selling material as well?

Cdbaby is pretty good for selling music. They put your album(s) up on pretty much all online distributers

Bandcamp seems to be the new craze though

anyways.....

discuss.....

It's really not that hard to build your own website. I did mine with a very rudamentary understanding of HTML (like 1st grade level... maybe less...). And even if you can't program, almost all hosting sites have templates you can choose from and just plug in your text and pics.

When you have your own website, you can use any player you want. The one on this page is from mixpod-dot-com: www.feistychicken.com/audiosamples . Just upload your songs and pick your colors and it generates the code for you. Then just copy and paste it into the code for your page.

Ha .. 'visually Appealing' is why I stopped checking myspace and no longer check soundclick, or are at least seriously put off by it. I kind of feel the same way about reverb nation but thats not as bad. Band camp can get get shocking but that has more to with bad picture selection than half assed coding 'experts'

soundclick is good. same flavour, everyone on even playing field.. let the music talk without all the flossy trash then we can finally see whats up. If I want to know more, I'll ask, follow etc, the social side is all good too.

I'm looking at my own website in the next couple months.. it will be 'visually appealing' and infused with 'MP3's by Dre' to enhance the sonic attributes.

Use Soundcloud. Maybe Bandcamp as well if you want to generate a little bit revenue which is usually a hit-and-miss operation.

i feel this topic. I thought myspace was really "IT" a few years ago. And i actually like its concept. But its pretty buggy, absolutely slow and pretty empty today with exception of spams...i get spam messages everyday there. Back in the days i could get some very interesting connections with artists, producers, managers or other people. it was really dope. i really think there is nothing like the old myspace nowadays (for music producers or artists).

the next thing that comes close to it is probably facebook. Its up to date, has a lot users, you can use apps on your page to upload your music, videos or images. the only thing i am missing (and thats actually a big point) is that you cant send or receive private messages on your artist account...and no "real friendships", just "likes".

anyways, at the moment i feel thats the spot to represent your music.

Check out my page:

Cal1 | Facebook

like it and i will like yours back, so we can build a producer network there!

by the way, the good thing on facebook is that you can combine it with soundcloud, bandpage etc.

I use youtube. Yeah myspace has become waay too cluttered, confusing and slow. Most people I know check for new music on youtube anyway, so I find it's a good place to be. I've also found if you put some good visuals to your music, it adds another dimension to the tracks and gives people another reason to check out your music.

Myspace was always clunky like the Tinman
Soundclick was always pussy like the lion and bandcamp was made of straw, but, make your own site and you'll be bangin Alice.

Welcome to music.. making it in this biz is like a trip to Oz to see the wizard.

As far as selling beats go Soundclick is still good. I collab'd with the graphic designer to make sure mine didn't look like anyone elses.
