If you're on PC, more than 3 gig could be a waste. Seems MicroSoft, in their ultimate wisdom, decided that no one would use more than 2 gig

I have 6 gig at work, and it crashes at 3 gig usage.

My audio comp only has a gig. Doesn't need more unless I go nuts with SoftSynth.
ProTools LE want a clear data pipeline. AMD Athlon 64 seems to do the job best there.

1 gig here and never any memory usage problems. my hard drives rarely spin when working with 12-20 tracks.

I was running my g5 1.6 with 256mb for 7 months before I ever needed more. I'm at a gig now, and I can't see needing more.
