Synth Drum Tuning Question

Hi everyone,

I'm busy sampling some analog synth drum kits. I can tune the kicks and toms to any note -- Which notes or intervals should I tune then to? I know a drummer who tunes his acoustic drums to fourths. Does this sound reasonable or should I just stick to octaves?

hmmm...good question...when i sample synth toms or kicks onto my motif or reason i usually tune mine chromatically over a two octave range; this way I can use them in different songs in different keys and they will sound right every time.

if theyre analog synth drums, then the tuning is being done by just speeding up the playback no? so whats the difference if you tune it, and sample, or just sample it, and tune it in your sampler?----its gonna pitch it the same way, no?
