no. most say Protools is a step behind other DAW programs as for as features go. I started on Cakewalk ProAudio 5 or 6 I think. Got Protools because it was easier the transfer sessions to larger commerical studios.

And what's up with Pro Tools Se7en ?

People say they've been catching up a lot with this release. I tryied Cubase SX 3, but didn't like the workflow at all. I'm still doing everything with (don't blink) Sony's Acid Pro v5.0 (soon in March 2006, v6.0). It's the most MS Windows-logical workflow ever develloped.

Why Nuendo ? Same thing as Cubase SX ??? Just wanna know your experiences with this piece.

PT and PT7 overall arn't anything special to me and i worked on an icon over the last 8 months... now they want me back in that studio but i don't know.
PT is the worst workflow i've ever worked with. when i started i was on cakewalk pro audio 5 LOL

i jumped around to other apps over the years (even acid)and when nuendo 1.2 came out i got it.. i've been using nuendo ever since. its so easy to work with no matter what your doing...
i don't like acid at all.(just me, not saying anything is wrong with acid) i remember the days of working with a lot of loops using acid.. i still didn't like ti much. i'm a engineer and nuendo is the best thing for me... not to mention i don't have any limitations in nuendo.

i have PT7 over here.. don't remember the last time i even opened PT.
as for nuendo and sx.. i've heard sx has some of nuendo features at a cheapers price but not all of them. i personally don't care about the price i'll always stick to nuendo and a custom made PC by ME.
its funny dealing with artist sometimes. they come in and all they know about is pro tools and they sound so stupid when they talk about PT... i open nuendo and they look dumb and ask dumb ask questions about it.. i tell um get in the booth and let me work don't worry about my medium(of course they don't know what that means) and i give them a product that sounds great...

its all about personal preference.. there isn't any such thing as the best daw program or whatnot... if you can make hits with sonar do it.. i can't, i hate cakewalk products... i use nuendo, i also use samplitude sometimes when i'm at my boys studio. when it comes to PT being "STANDARD" its nothing but marketing but i don't wanna turn this thread into every other app vs PT

Are we talking pt TDM/HD or LE?

LE sucks in comparison to samplitude and others. especially with no ADC- cant get a decent mix on there.

PT HD is a different animal though. Mix on there on the regular.

Have owned PT LE for about 2+ yrs now.
(started with Mbox, now use 002r.)

Having gotten a taste of other DAW's before PT, I'm finally accepting the fact that, to me, PT is sort of wack.

However I am sticking with it for now.
Too ubiquitous & I don't want to bother learning a new product or blowing money on new setups.

In all fairness to PT LE, I am far from an expert user.
Still a novice really. But it gets the job done.
I just started using PTLE 7, beats me whats so much better about it.

I also mix OTB when I can.
Internal summing is cool & convenient but not for my sound, unless it's just quickie/not-for-production stuff, or requested.

I still prefer Stereo track editing & finalizing in SoundForge.
Though ever since bumping up to SF 8.0 I can't get the Digi ASIO to work with it, hence can't use the 002 as my audio interface anymore.
SUCKS.

I'm giving PT LE one more year.
I would really love to have my choice of audio interface, better converters and better i/o than whats on the 002.

May even move to a HD recorder & just import into PT later when needed.

for me its both. the main PT system i worked on was an HD6 with 3 hd192's and a 32ch icon.
i know what a TDM can really do.. i still perfer nuendo with a powerful daw(dual core opteron or dual dualcore :D) and 3-4 Uad-1 an or poco's.

personally my new system will be just like the BEST HD systems with an icon but a better workflow for me. if i end up spending more money i'll be getting the Euphonix System 5MC(which imo is the icon killer) right now i'm kinda set on the Nuendo ID controller..24faders with a bunch or other stuff and full control over nuendo at a price that makes me feel a lot better vs a euphonix

Believe it or not, I started producing and sequenced on a Voyetra (LOL). I later graduated to Cubase VST. I've used Digital Performer, Pro Tools, Samplitude and messed around with SawStudio (nice sound but a big learning curve - not in a bad way though).

Anyway, I mix with Nuendo on a Dual Opteron.........custom built as DivineMusic mentions, and fully tweaked.

All in all......whatever works for you! My setup may not be logical for the next guy but perfect for me.

Long Time PT user(Only for recording all production was done in hardware)... Anyway TRYING to switch to software. Its taking forever. Tried doing it in PT untill the good folks here hipped me to cubase. Ordered it a week ago and was told today I wont recieve it till the begining of march. This is frustrating but i think it will be worth it in the long run.

Nuendo 2 or 3 just seems more with less time than Pro Tools
