Mobile Producers

Hi, wanted to ask you all -- if i create a mobile set-up, to make beats and songs what's the best set-up? Also, any of you have this method and how's it working?

Like so far i've got:

Powerbook G4
Logic 7.1

But, got questions on:
soundcard?
Monitors/headphones?
anything additional needed?

Any advise is appreciated--peace

GS

monitors depend more on your personal taste.

Look at some of akg's stuff for headphones.

if you can afford it, apogee minime, but that really depends upon what you need the thing to do.

this is just me - but if i were starting a mobile recording workstation i'd get the following

- a blazing pentium M laptop with a widescreen
-- sony or dell with a 7200 rpm HD
- emu 1616m pci cardbus soundcard
- fl studio
- cubase sx
- vst plugins
- m-audio axiom 25 keyboard controller (it has pads too)

you could do some damage with a setup like that.

Most producers I've worked with have just requested gear then showed up with there zips and cd's. But if your tryin to build your own rack to go from studio to studio to work with artists you can't go rong with a Fantom, MPC, Triton, and a V-synth. Every one in the rap game is using them, But of course get what you like, it don't matter what you use as long as it sounds good.

my truly "portable" studio is G4 1.5ghz laptop, mbox, mpc 1000, korg microkorg and sony 7506 headphones. that's it, and ive made some HUGE tracks on just that.

Yo Disco D,

Yeh, that's a kind of set up i'm lookin' for -- just wasn't sure which sound card to use. Nice to travel around and make beats in the tropics! Peace

my mobile setup consists of my powerbook 1.67 running reason and my maudio o2 (the super flat one) i just plug in my headphones and get it crackin...i have some monster cables for running it into a system, but if i create something that i like and the artist wants it, i bounce the tracks and pull it up in pt...pretty simple
