Its good to know some things don't change. I haven't posted much here in the last year or so. I come back and you're still a vagina. Only now almost 10k posts deep. Good job.
Somehow that 10k post deep relates to some other things in my life I can't complain.

Anyhow I use the usual that I always have, Rode K2, JZ BH-2 and Sm7b.

Ok,
Bun B - Stock Vintage U47
Jazze Pha - Sony C800G or Manley Ref Cardroid
Yung Joc - Gefell UM92.1S
Tech N9ne - Vintage U67, Korby Kat 67 head & Neumann M149
Yukmouth - Neumann M149
Raekwon - U87ai
Currently I'm using a Lawson L47MP with great results.

Use what you have around that's quality, good tools just make the job easier.

That being said I cut Tech's "It's Alive" and "This Ring" on a Rode NT1, "Sinister Tech" on a AKG Solidtube & "Now It's On" on a AKG 535EB.

Now I mostly just use a Sony c800g into an Ams Neve 1073 at my private studio.

At our studio we have a few good mics...
Brauner Phantom Classic
Shure Sm7b
CAD E350
Sennheiser 421's
SE 2200T
an Oktava
a few other chinese mics
And Idk what else... I'd have to check.

Now my favorite mics on rappers that I've tried have been...
CAD E350
Neumann U 87i and ai
Neumann U 47
Neumann TLM-103...

The TLM is at the labels studio and the U87 we can get on loan anytime... CAD is at our spot... and the 47 well... I gotta pay to play if I wanna use that one :p

I haven't tried the classic yet, but will once we get our booth built... I'm excited to hear it on rap vocals.
The CAD 350 is one of the most slept on mics ever, hard to find but great.

I use a Manley Ref C and a Rode NT2000. Both great mics.

U87Ai, C800g, c12vr (least favorite) it just works sometimes and actually have gotten great results with a Shure KSM 32.

Shure KSM44
Never let me down, seems to sound good with anyone I put in front of.
To my untrained ears anyway. Thing is once you get over all the
marketing hype, you realise you can get what works for less than the
price of what everyone else is using.

With that said I'm still going to get a Neumann U87/C800G/Manley Cardiod.
What else can I say I'm a gearslut ~ lOl!

Next Purchase: Shure SM7

Lately, I've been using a modified AKG Perception and the MXL V69ME.
We have still have all the other fancy mics in the studio, but those two do the job for most of what I need.

The CAD's are still a go to, but lately I've been wanting slightly brighter vocals.

I used a mxl v67g w.diy gobo type thing. Wish I had a pic of the set up but I'm bak at moms house so everything is boxed up. I used a ksm 32 a few times too and it sounded dope. at my homies studio he got a tlm103 and I tracked an ep on that thru an Avalon in a good room. It sounds clean. I would love to hear my voice thru a u67 tho...

SM7b hasn't been working out for me with the main guy I'm working with, neither has my AT4033...

Really I'm not happy with any of the sounds I'm getting for him yet... maybe I should make a post for help.
