Roland SP-404

Thinking of picking up a Roland SP-404 for fun... since it is portable and cheap. I was wondering if anyone here uses one? I just want one question answered about it. When you load samples onto the CF Card via a computer and a CF card writer... and then slap the CF card into the SP-404's slot...how does the SP-404 decide which sample goes where? Is it alphabetical order? The manual says ASCII order... what is that?

I believe it mentioned it goes in order of loaded. A and B banks are built-in memory, so if the card is blank, it will probably load 1-12 until it has loaded them all. IE, you have 13 samples, the first one would be 1C, 2C, etc and then the 13th would be 1D.

Hope that makes sense.

I suggest purchasing one, especially, ESPECIALLY if you DJ. The non-velocity pads may hinder some, but it's still a fun, portable unit and a real ass-kicker for the DJ set-up. And CF cards are so cheap.

And 44.1k sampling. And the sample trimming is really easy and you don't have to do it the "super fast hitting OMG I screwed up re-try it again" style.

I have had sex with mine and can also attest to it's stamina in bed.
