Need Help With Studio Upgrade/Name

I am currently in Afghanistan and looking to upgrade my studio when I get back to Houston in May. I just recently got into recording my own music and I’m still in the process of building my studio and I’m looking for my next upgrade. Below is the list of equipment I am currently working with

GEAR:

27 in Imac
MPC 4k
Digi 003 Rack
Rosetta 800
Roland G6
Blue Bird Mic
Blue Berry Mic
710 Twinfinity Pre Amp

Alesis 3630 Compressor
Alesis M-EQ 230
Akai S950 Sampler
Mackie 1604
Yamaha HS-80M
Numark TT-200/Numark Mixer (for sampling purchases)
Tons of plug-ins and a few other small pieces of gear

My budget is around a $1000 but if it’s more I can save up for it if it’s really worth it. Please no plug-in

The second thing I would like help with is a studio name. I want it to be something with a meaning here are some examples:

D.O.P.E ENT (DEFINIATION OF A PERFECT EMCEE)
T.N.N. ENT (TIME IS NOW OR NEVER)

Thanks
Magic

How about spend a grand on upgrading your acoustical treatment in your studio and/or live room?

Not sure what you could spend your money on, you have a pretty nice amount of gear already.. maybe buy more mics and pres? Can never have enough :P

Also with your studio name, try thinking of something more original.. iv come across so many labels, studios etc with names close to ones you suggested. A word that doesnt mean anything or is spelt different to a work such as mine name 'Blynk'.. defo helps when people google you! Apart from theres an Organic foodbar called Blynk Organic

Studio Name: that is such a personal thing. I wish I knew you since that would make it easier to come up with something clever. Your nickname is Magic? Try something like Magic Bag, House of Magic, Magic Stick, The Den, Blue Magic, etc...

A nice addition to the studio may be a good all around instrament like a bass guitar or another drum kit. IDK, what do you do genre wise?

I know what you mean thats why i asked for help cause to be honest with you. I was thinking about waiting and buying a control surface such as a control 24 the older one but alot of people told me its not worth it cause the price you pay for a huge mouse and on the other hand you can get you like 2 nice pieces of hardware or 3 ok pieces. I guess im just chasing the analog feeling and i really dislike mixing in the box . I'll jump all over one if i can find one around $2,000 which is very unlikely. I still got about 2 1/2 months to think about it. Thanks for giving me ideas with the name i really want it to be different and original and thats crazy you heard names similiar i thought it was pretty slick. Thanks for everything

I feel you on the name thing bro. I've known myself all my life and its still hard..........lol.... I think it because i put so much thought and time and effort into being original and different. Yes I go by the artist name Magic. I like the Blue Magic thing too but i think people would think i was trying to copy the American Gangster . If you look at the reply above this one i was thinking about the Control 24 for a upgrade but Ill have to wait a month or 2 to save up for it. What do you think about that??? I also had a bass in my mind too but i dont know how to play one....... so for the genre of music i do mostly Rap and R&b and from time to time alittle pop.

I think that would be great upgrade if you were doing alot of your own mixes. Having actual faders helps alot in the mix since you can "feel" track out with automations.

I spent lots of dough on control surfaces. I sold my 2 mcu's, stopped using my digital mixer that doubled as a good control surface and finally decided on the presonus faderport and a $100.00 novation nocturn. The price on the nocturn is what kept me from trying it out earlier. I would be lost without this thing now. I find it hard to focus and make slight adjustments with my trackball but this thing is like a mixer. You can control all plugins and can lay it out anyway you want. I would really consider it, the faderport as well. I was going to go with steinberg's controller till a fellow slut who had one, steered me away. Both of these units are less than the steinberg unit.
