I truly feel that two of the best produced hiphop albums of all time are...

ATLiens - Outkast and Its Dark and Hell is Hot - DMX.

ATLiens was just so "out there" yet still so smooth.

To this day I still don't understand what happened to that dark gothic vibe that DMX had on his first album. I love Swizz Beatz but not with DMX... Anyone know who produced most of the cuts on that album. Hell for all I know it could've been Swizz Beatz but it just doesn't sound like the kind of stuff he does normally.

i can't say i'd disagree with you. wouldn't be the top two on my list, but i really love both of those albums.

Shame DMX is all f'ed up on drugs now. I heard some of his new stuff, a remix with busta rhymes...and i got that whitney houston feeling.

I agree with you on Oukast but not that album.

Aquemini...by far... is their greatest album and probably top five of all time, if not three.

all of my favorite cuts on this are by PK... where is he now? Does he even produce anymore? If so does anyone have any tracks I should look out for.

IMHO although "It takes a nation..." was the more innovative record, "fear of a black planet" is better produced...especially if you go back and listen to them both now.

it's slicker, more dense, has more variety in tempo and instrumentation, plus it has just as many hits on it.

welcome to the terrodome
fight the power
can't do nuthin for you man
911 is a joke
burn hollywood burn

"it takes a nation" uses some part of "funky drummer" on nearly every song. that gets kinda annoying to me now.

2 dope albums but to say the production is better on those than Jay Z- The Blueprint, Dr Dre- The Chronic 2001, Notorious BIG- Ready To Die or Life After Death, Eminem's first 3 cds or 2pac- All Eyez On Me is a bit much

Hip Hop Blasphemy

Honestly I'm gonna go against the grain and say that Ready to Die was a tad bit overrated. (BUT DOOOOPE)

Big would have never taken off as big if not for features/and remixes

People discredit Puff, but in this case The shiny suit magic made "Black and ugly as ever" palatable.

NOW THAT NEXT BIG ALBUM WAS THE SHIT

but everyone thereafter was mr. shiny suit tying to capitalize

I honestly miss the "BAD BOY era" days. Mary (though not on BB), Faith (who sings circles around most out today including MARY! ANd her vocal arranging is DOOOOPE) Total, Mase, BIG, Craig Mack, ALL SOLID albums/writing with solid production.

You dont get that much these days in rap or RnB

I've always been a fan of Wu-Forever.

Infamous is probably at the top of my list though.

and both Dre albums.

Wu Tang: Forever

for the raw intensity of the production,, these albums sound great at any listening level.

Dame Grease (production company: Vacant Lot).

Dude seriously gave DMX HEAT HEAT and more HEAT. The oil to DMX's flame (or vice versa). It's just that Swizz Beats is marketed as a superproducer (he is a HOT producer no doubt, c'mon.. how many hits!?!?) and Dame was way more an in-the-back kind of dude.

U gotta push U too.. besides the production credit you gotta push you.. by putting your name in a track.. or whatever it is Swizz did. (IF THAT's YOUR THING TO BE KNOWN!)

I watched the Hank Shocklee interview on red bull music academy and he claims that terminator x did do the cuts on that album.

i think "the chronic" and "doggystyle" are masterpieces. great production, lots of variety and music, controversy, etc. i dont think those will ever really lose their shine
