Thread Starter | Digi 002 control surface or Digi 002 Rack ?
Which would you suggest to get ?All I want to do is to be able track out my tracks from my mpc at the same time individually. I will be using the outputs from my mpc 2500 into the digi 002 surface or the 002 rack.

Is this not a stunningly obvious answer? do you need faders/DAW control or not? If so, get the control surface, if not get the rack (or better, the 003 rack). Both have exactly the same i/o - the 003 just has better conversion (and word clock).

002 rack is a great interface regardless of Pro Tools but having Pro Tools around is a plus (just in case)... I use Ableton Live 8 on Windows 7 with 002Rack and it's drivers are rock solid .....but! in order to make it work > **** you have to install PT 8.0 and then the 8.04 update to get the drivers to work on Windows 7 64bit or 32bit ***. Drivers are not available as a download only. You can easily remove Pro Tools if you don't want it by uninstalling it but do not uninstall the Audio driver. A/D conversion is a bunch of hoopla! at this stage of your game. When it's time to up the A/D converters ...Black Lion Audio does a modification to the 002rack that can compete with all the expensive gear out there. But! let me say this ...it's such a subtle change that a beginners ears will not hear a difference. When it comes to audio ...it's all about subtle changes. $3000 Preamps , $3000 A/D converters..."this $3000 compressor sounds better on this than this $3000 compressor sounds on that" yada! yada! yada! These companies and their subtle changes have brainwashed the home studio consumer into thinking they need this or that or YOU suck!.. in the end "THE MUSIC YOU CREATE IS ALL THAT MATTERS" it doesn't make a damn what A/D converter you used or anything else. peace! |
