"Make a beat in 5 minutes videos"

Anyone notice that producers like Just Blaze cheat (maybe thats too strong a word, misrepresent might be better) when they do these Smack DVD produce a beat in 5 minutes scenes?

They already have their sample selected, have already chopped it up and loaded on the sampler. then they pretend to do all that while on camera.. If they actually have to take a minute to do some real dirty work it gets edited out of the DVD so it looks like it all comes together in 5 minutes. Most of time I think they have already put together the whole song, and then just redo part of it over again for the DVD.
the whole 'who makes beats the fastest' thing is silly, with everyone trying to one up the next guy on how little effort they put into producing. Sure heatmakerz can lace a sped up soul loop beat in 5 minutes that sounds like garbage, but obviously thats not the process that created "dipset anthem" so whats the point?

I really wanted to see how Just sequenced his drums, instead he just used that loop...kinda sucked.

i think they do that on purpose to cut back on time, do you wanna watch just look for loop points for 10 minutes? our brains that mtv has turned to mush dont have that kind of attention span.

well maybe not looking for loop points.. but it would be cool if they showed all the people that Just Blaze pays to dig records, show them going all over the place, finding tracks, bringing them all in, and then the selection process. so you see the actual process that goes into his production.. I guess it wouldn't fit in 5 minutes, but I could watch something like the Jayz fade 2 black documentary for hours

yeah... it could be hot, but those smack joints are for the hood, not for the djs and producers in the hood. i'm suprised someone hasn't made a more comprehensive producer documentary (there's the Deep Crates dvd, but that focuses on diggin)
