RODNEY JERKINS DARKCHILDS PRODUCTION SOUND

I am a up and coming rnb producer/artist/engineer, my style is like MARIO, USHER, RAY J, GINUWINE and so on. I love that american mix in my music and thats the direction I'm looking to go. I am a big fan of RODNEY JERKINS DARKCHILD and i wanted to know what he uses,

what EQ does he use for his drum sounds?

what EQ does he use for his vocals?

what COMPRESSOR he uses for vocals?

what COMPRESSOR he uses for his drum sound?

what FX unit he uses for vocals?

what REVERB he uses for vocals?

and also what is his VOCAL CHAIN.

Other suggestions are welcome if you know of suitable equipment that can give that sound I want.

I think those questions are for the mix engineers who make thse calls and he doesn't use any one person. If you want, I am working with Jean-Marie Horvat today on a session and I can ask about a particular song if it's one of the ones he's mixed (assuming he remembers).

The only notable things I can remember from working with Rodney was that he, like most people, don't EQ anything to disk/tape, but heused to use one of those cheap crappy 1622 pro tools interfaces (hence the low quality sounds, but a lot get sounds replaced in the mixes anyways). And he would often record vocals into Auto-tune (using an aux bussed to an audio track).

Not reall prctices I would want to copy. Just means the mix engineers have to do more work to get it to sound good. It's probably the arrangemnets and songs that are capturing your attention.

OK, as an engineer, I have to ask what is the record format you are looking to work with, if you drop and great (PreAMP, COMP, EQ,) in front of your chain into let say PT, that would give you a great sound, YOUR sound.... Try and link up with a good record engineer near you and pick his mind (pay him to record your work ) and ask questions as he works.
