Thread Starter | PHOENIX Demo
Here are the Phoenix TDM Plugin demos. I have made 2 a/b sets for the Phoenix Plugin. Both Tracks were produced and mixed all ITB vi Pro Tools 7 HD1 TDM XP by me The first one is the Phoenix on just the channel strip inserts of the tracks. The second one is the Phoenix on the channel strips and on Mix Bus/Master. To show a track mixing though it, So the a/b for the second one will be much more drastic because having it on the 2 bus really effects my mixing methods during the mix. Also on the second one i used a different phoenix plugin that emulates a "darker" tape, which is doing more roll off which also effects my eq'ing methods in the mix. Both tracks are current rough productions and mixes by me Matt Manna for my current Beat CD/Demo. It's pretty cool to see how each method gives me 2 totally different results. I hope this helps and thanks alot Disco D for taking the time to make The Fatso Demos. i like what i hear mostly, but it sounds to affected on the transients, it get smeared by it. Sounds like the sound get destroyed...like too much clipping. But it pushes up the volume thats whats real good for me. |

sorry im not the best mixer and i just do what i think sounds good to me, they are very rough and i run 2 phoenix's on each channel and try to hit the sweetspot that sounds good to me. I mainly do it as a final polish to try give my instrumentals that wow factor from the listner.

boo, it really does increase the volume alot and it also helps glue my attempted mixes together, i have been thinking about my methods and how they might be different, but all i go for is that sonic wow factor and to me i feel like it really gives my beats a real warm and full sound. i have tried and tried to be a better mixer and some times i just wanna stick to making beats because i think im a shitty mixer, but i just really want complete control over my vision from start to finish. i would love to view a pro urban mixing session though e.also lately i have been thinking about maybe taking a multiband compression approach, but i will need a little time to figure out how i wanna go about it. For now and my budget the phoenix is working well. |

Hey playboy...u arent doing anything wrong...i posted a thread asking how much engineering does a producer need and the response i got was "as much as possible"...but also keep in mind that when u sell the beat they are probably gonna remix it anyway so dont stress yourself out...let me ask u...do u use an mpc for sequencing or one of those pc based joints?...i like the way ur loops sound. www.myspace.com/booblades |

Heh thanks, i do all my beats in pro tools, but i picked up an mpc2000xl just to learn the unit and to understand why people like it so much, then i took all that i had learned and i applyed that in a way to almost emulate what i thought were the best things about the mpc2000xl in pro tools.

I have a Pro Tools HD1 rig which is just 1 core card(****ing huge too) and it plugs right inside my computer, you gotta make sure if your going the HD route that your case is big enough and if your running it on a pc you also have to make sure your motherboard is compatable because if not your kinda out of luck. I bought a "Digidesign Qualified" Dell PC after i had to many problems with the computer i had build myself.
