mpc 1000/ pt sync issues

ok, i can set up pt to record the mpc with pt as the master and the mpc as the slave. one thing, i have to do it as an aux track, then bus it to an audio track, not sure why. anyways. what if i wanted to use the mpc as a sound module and sequence in pt. ive tried everything and cant figure it out. yes ive read the manual. its wierd. when i try to do it, it gives me one massive peak that never stops. if i disconnect the midi out on the mpc, the sound will stop, but the pt meter doesnt. any help is appreciated....

I could be wrong but I don't think you can use the MPC 1000 or any mpc for that matter as a sound module. Like i said though, i could be completly wrong...but i dont think so.

yeah, you can't use the mpc1000 as a sound module.

You'll need to set up the sequence on the mpc and then slave it to pt via midi beat clock for the transfers to PT as audio. I'm thinking of upgrading to a mpc 4000 for the superior sync options ...

I dont use MPC1000 or protools but I do use MPC2000xl with cubase and logic and the MPC2000xl can be used as a sound module. I do know that my friends sequences his SP12 from protools LE.
The MPC1000 receives midi beat clock and pro tools sends it. This means that midi notes from an idividual sequence or more can be sent via midi to an external sampler.
What is happening with your situtaion is that you are creating a midi loop. The midi notes coming into the MPC are being sent back into pro tools and this creates the effect you are hearing/seeing. You need to set the 'soft through' function to OFF. This way the MPC will not output incoming midi data. This will stop the loop.
MPC's generally receive incoming note messages on the all channels. You can change this though and set individual tracks to receive on particular channels.
