Kong Kills !!!

Seriously though, been using the demo for a few hours. This thing is it. Best thing I've used since the MPC.

Its just extremely easy to program, tweak, flip and create your own sounds.

I use Battery 3 and Maschine. I really wish Maschine had the simplicity of Kong when it comes to layering and linking sounds.

Propellerheads did a great job with Kong. Blocks is awesome too. Need blocks in Logic Pro. Using folders is just not as intuitive.

Anybody else feeling Kong?

I had the beta but never got around to opening it. Kong is what has kept me most intersted. Can't wait to try it.

Loving it here as well, picked up my copy on Tuesday!

Super easy to get fat, punchy drums.

I'm also enjoying neptune.

How realistic is Neptune? I mean is the quality on par with Autotune?

There is like four reason 5 threads... mods should merge them??

I don't think it's been released in Canada yet but Kong is half the reason i'm going to be upgrading when it comes out. Actually it's pretty much the main reason.

I would say the quality is definitely on par with auto tune.

Go to propellerheads website and check out the neptune video to hear what it sounds like.

Neptune seems to be better than autotune because it's also a midi harmonizer and a voice synth. Just listen to the Purple Ribbons demo song. I don't think there's a vst alternative either.

That's interesting. I just wasn't able to tell if Neptune was on par with Autotune. In some ways it did look easier when using with a keyboard.

I'll down load the Record demo and give Neptune a try. I have the old version of AT (not Evo) so it doesn't work with Logic Pro 9.

Maybe I'll get better use out of Neptune instead of upgrading my old version of AT.

IMO Battery is the best thing for Logic.

Battery does not have its own sequencer like Ultrabeat, but in terms of organization, triggering samples and over all usage, its just a better way to go.

I also like Maschine with Logic. There are various pros and cons.

Search the ongoing threads about Maschine. Its really great if you want that hands on feel of a drum machine.

FYI, you can always just rewire Kong into Logic.

A vastly more accurate description is this: Neptune sounds and behaves like a cross between AutoTune and a Vocoder.

Kong is good but lacks one thing.

I have the Akai MPK49 and I only have 12 pads (3 columns and 4 rows).
Kong has 16 pads (4x4)...so ... you probably get the point.
Visually it doesn't help me at all.

I wish there were some way of customizing it for 12 pads or 8 for other keyboards.

Anybody know of such a deal?

Cheers.

Call me crazy. But...I've loaded a drum on a Kong pad and loaded the same drum in the Redrum module and for some reason (no pun intended), it sounds better when played through Redrum than the Kong module. Anyone else notice? If not, try it and let me know if i'm buggin. Thanks

buggin'.

Kong is really good, i like all the sends/effects/sound designer. i havent had the chance to load up a chopped up sample and flip with it yet.

I also don't have record, something to look into i guess.. neptune looks awesome..

also, this may be the thing that puts my MPC to sleep.
and then i'd buy a 16pad control surface.

Kong defaults to a velocity value of 80 for samples added to the NNXT module. Are you sure you're not just hearing a difference in volume?

Hi all. I haven't used reason from, let's say, version 2.0

So my question is: a complete DVD - so many gb of data - is alot...

What's inside the Reason? Presets? Drum Sets? How can reason 5 get

so huge ?

Well, there have been several additions since v2 to name a few:
v3 - combinators; v4 - Thor; v5 - Kong & 24 bit samples

I'm sure I left out some other stuff, as far as presets in 5; I like them I'm more of a create my own patch or use alternative refills.

I think the real beauty of Kong, is the ability to sample, and really sampling is the beauty of Reason 5 period. I would suggest grabbing the demo and tryin' it out. Definitely read the section in the manual on Kong, it increased my workflow ten fold after reading.

Hope this helps.

Aha. I know the new/latest added synth n' stuff.

On topic, the Kong thing seems so good for its intuitive approach.

How many presets are provided inside Kong itself?

Not sure about the precise number of presets, off the top of my head, I know there are your general genre type kit folders, and about 5 or 6 artist specific kit folders, so all in all I would say maybe over a hundred or so kits total.

Like i mentioned earlier, i mostly sample into Kong, or load .wav samples or ones I've previously chopped into Rex(s).
