Kong is amazing. But, really, we're all spoiled. Technology today is incredible.

Write something magical. No excuses.

....waiting on my copy of Reason 5 in the mail.... cant wait!!!

Kong looks amazing and I am glad to here it acutally is a great tool too!

Question: I'm using Cubase as my sequenser, and rewire Reason4 (soon 5) into it, mostly because I love Combinator and Thor.

Is it possible to use the reGroove on reDrum or kong, but still record into Cubase?? Suggestions?

you'd record Kong the same way you've been doing your combinators. As for ReGroove, the only way to achieve that would be to record your midi inside of Record while rewired so ReGroove actually has midi content to grab and process.

Kong's best features to me are the dead simple compressor + transient shaper. Those modules better become seperate effects in some kind of future update, granted you can already use Kong as an FX module via the back panel patching but i'd like to save the screen real estate haha.

Just another great tool in the Reason toolbox. I use ReDrum plenty and enjoy adding Kong alongside it.

Cheers!

Using Aux1 for Drum Plate and Aux 2 for side chaining and am very happy. Buss FX works great for parallel processing.

Overall Kong is a win. Would like to see a "select pad through midi" option like the "A" in Live's Drum Racks, but not that big a deal.

I just got kong and reason 5 and its great. ONE problem i have an axiom 49 pro and it only has 8 drum pads.

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO MAP THE KONG PADS TO MY AXIOM 49 PRO??

Right now the pads are all random and i wanted to map them myself to the pad i want, is this possible without the 16 pads or will it just be random? It lets me map all the knobs and faders no problem when i go into remote edit mode but i cannot figure out the drum pad mapping ANYONE?

I just havent tried yet.

But can you right-click on a pad and do the "learn" feature? Im gonna fire it up and see. Ive got an Axiom 49 as well.

EDIT: So I spent about 5 minutes with it and.....I dunno. Short of taking a few different instances of Kong and slapping them all into a Combinator and then using the programmer in the Combinator to restrict certain Kong modules to certain keys, I dunno know the best solution involving an Axiom 49.

For only $100, the Akai MPD18 is what Ill be getting.

I tried that but there was no "learn" , all i get is create a new instrument or lock keyboard to instrument. If you figure this it out it would be a GREAT help it was driving me nuts last night

For only $100, the Akai MPD18 is what Ill be getting.

i found this fix online, i will be giving it a try tonight if you would like to try also:

The Axiom's default presets for Reason (7-12) have the pads mapped to ReDrum. If you want to set up the pads to your liking, ReDrum responds to MIDI notes 36-45; Preset 9 is mapped to 36-43.

You can program the MIDI notes for the pads by:
1. Press the pad you want to change
2. Press the Data 1 button on the Axiom (the LCD should show a flashing MIDI note)
3. Type in the # of the desired MIDI note (you can also use the +/- buttons to scroll up or down, and you can press the pad while programming to audition)
When the flashing music note disappears, the new setting has been made.
Repeat.

When finished, don't forget to store these changes to a preset.
1. Press the Store Key
2. Type in the # of the preset (1-20) to store it to
When the display stops flashing and returns to normal, the preset has been stored.

Obviously this is for ReDrum but ill try the same idea

In the Reason it shows what pads are mapped to what keys. Just edit your axiom preset.

Where can I see that? I found out how to map the pads to the notes, but where can I find the notes kong holds in the 16 pads?

Drum patterns were a weakness, not anymore with kong.

I've been looking at kong but I can't see anything that really makes it superior to any other drum program besides creating your own kick. But if u have gigs of drums that's not groundbreaking either

It's really only a big deal if you're already into Reason, or have used Reason before.

The point is that it's superior to ReDrum or Dr-Rex or NN-XT or Subtractor by combining the best elements of all of these into a really slick and versatile working environment.
