Best / Favorite SOFT-SAMPLER/SYNTH

I'm looking for a program that I can load my own samples/sounds/.WAV files into & play them via MIDI.

Basically a Soft Synth that will let me load my own sounds/libraries.

Is this what GigaSampler does?
(Forgive me but I am totally unitiated in this area).

I don't need any sequencing or super fancy sh*t, just let me load my own sounds, maybe do some basic patch editing & then play them via MIDI.

I have a lot of sound libraries of vintage + custom synth sounds & it would take years to actually sample them all into my sampler(s).
So I think the best solution is to find a soft sampler that will let me copy these files over, do some real basic tweaking, map them appropiately & then play them.

Suggestions?

I may on occasion talk about some of the products I am a dealer for in my posts.. and that's OK! I sell them because I like them. Not vice versa. It's more fun to talk about things you know and love, then things you don't.

Is Mach 5 for Mac only?

I run a PC.

Damn, Kontact is a grip! $450!

I think thats for overkill for what need.
But damn, looks really powerful.

Is Giga sampler any good?
I just need to play these samples via MIDI.

Gigastudio (the newest version of GigaSampler) is great, but would require it's own CPU... If you aren't going to be running any other programs, then you could give Giga a shot.

if all you need to do is play samples via MIDI, you could get by with something as cheap as Reason. It seems like Kontakt, Mach Five, etc. are all a lot more than you really are looking for.

I tried them all: March Five, Halion, Giga etc. and Kontakt2 is just the best.
Sounds really well and I can't imagine things I coudn't with it (well I can, but it's nothing to do with sampling )

I'd say East / West Colossus or Kontakt2 with library. But for immediacy and quick results when demoing some progressions, i'd say Hypersonic.

Peace

Colossus and Hypersonic are cool, but won't really let him load his own sounds..

Samplers

I have the Emulator X which has the best filters, but I usually end up loading quantum leap libraries into Kontakt 2.

What do you guys like about Kontact over Mach V? (I use Mach V v1 and I think about upgrading to v2 at some point but I'd be open to something different like Kontact)

I already have a bunch of sounds so I'm not pressed to have the stock libraries.

I bought Kontakt 4 this week to replace my hardware romplers, and I have to say I'm very impressed with the quality of the stock library and the abundance of great 3rd party sounds. I bought Goldbaby's Fatso Synths Vol. 1 yesterday and was blown away. One of the synths he sampled was the Roland JX-3P which I actually own, and after hearing his multi-samples I've decided to sell my actual hardware version because they sound just as good, if not better since they were recorded though a UBK Fatso.

Havent used Mach! - But Kontakt to me is a beast! Capable of almost anything, way more than i need i use it for basic sampling and use of 3rd party versions of hardware synths! Dont know in comparison to mach 5 but there seems to be so much more available for kontakt, it would seem as thought thats the winner.

Hey Illustrious

Glad you like Fatso Synths Vol. 1. The UBK Fatso really adds some weight!

If you like that you should check out my new synth... FatJuno-6

I just got a 10/10 from Computer Music for it...

I was actually going to buy that and the Tape 101 later this week!

I noticed that in the description box on the Fat Juno page, you mentioned it was originally going to be included on Fatso Synths Vol.2. Can you give us any clues as to what synths you will be including in that pack and when it might be available?

At this stage I have:

CS-10
Matrix-6
Mopho
On the look out for another 2 synths to compete...

However that product is on hold while I finish Tape Drum Machines Vol 3...

Plus I have another secret synth product under development that may jump the queue...
