Favorite Analog Synth?

What's everyone's favorite analog synth?

If you could only own one, what would it be?

I may on occasion talk about some of the products I am a dealer for in my posts.. and that's OK! I sell them because I like them. Not vice versa. It's more fun to talk about things you know and love, then things you don't.

Sequential Circuits Pro One for me.

Instant Gratification...you turn the knobs and it sounds awesome.

Alesis Andromeda... but bypass the internal effects and run it through a Space Echo and a tube amp! ~Rufuss

my modcan modular would be my ONLY synth but if I could only spend under $500 then the DSI Evolver would probably be my go to synth.

sorry...i gotta agree on the minimoog.....
it just plays the best...talking controls/keys....
the first time i played one it felt like home....
there is no other analog that feels so right....
just like the hammond is my favorite organ....
it's silly but my hands just feel comfortable around those nobs/drawbars/keys...

that said....i won't drop the cash for my own....yet...that might be the next dreamsicle on the list..
i play a cz-1000 that controls a mfb synth lite...as my gigs are full of danger and i wouldn't trust a mini on stage/tour....

the mini has good sweeps on the nobs..and their aren't too many nobs...(important to me)
..it's very easy to evolve sounds drastically while stoned......

i wish i could say something esoteric..or more complicated like the 2500 or serge..
..but i can't....minimoog forever....
ditto on the tube amp there too....
traynor yba-1a....that's some synth bass foo...

maybe close second is the roland juno...for very similar reasons...

tone chameleon

it would have to be my ATC-1 TONE CHAMELEON..
4 filter cartriges,,,moog/roland/oberheim/arp
it may only be monophonic but it is an absolute killer on bass and lead stuff...
i've owned a roland tb303 and sh-3 and system100 an arp oddysey.....
and this is by far my favourite

Speaking of Moogs....

my favorite analog synth right now is this shitty Realistic Moog I got for $400 around the corner from my spot. It's my favorite because the first beat I made on it last week sold to Trick Daddy in 3 days! For a single!

Tough one, but I'd have to go with either the Yamaha CS-80 or the Arp/Rhodes Chroma. Of all the synths I used to own way back when, those two were the most fun to play.

I've gotta say that a close second is the Arp 2600... for all the wrong reasons. Yeah it's buggy, put together with Y cables, etc etc.. all cheap parts.. but the sheer insanity of unique sounds i've gotten out of one really amazes me... especially when you get the external input and ring mod happening.

Korg MS-20 is up there too for weirdness...

Gotta be the Roland Juno-60, or Juno-106 for me. They are mad versatile considering their architecture, but it's the filter on these that does it for me. Otherwise i would have to say the Oberheim SEM or OBXa.

Peace

MemoryMoog --- hands down.

As long as the son-of-a-beeech is working properly and is reasonably stable tuning wise.

Ciao

Try before you buy Tony because they are all different. I tried many of them and they are all different. I love Studio Electronics, but when you trigger a note, there is some kind of white noise coming from it. You can adjust the volume for this noise with the sustain knob. This apply to all of their stuff, but it still sounds good though.

Moog is ok if you like that kind of sound, but Studio Electronics is more phater to me.
Alesis Andromeda is ok, but it's not like a Moog.

I have a Virus KB and it's wicket as hell, but a VA synth is no true analog.

I say Studio Electronics. Check out the list

yes I have a manger. It's a former industry exec I've known since 2000 when he gave me my first major label remix for Epic. I've been friends with him for years. However, I hustle a lot of my own shit, and for example the Trick Daddy shit I know his A&R really well and just mp3 him stuff all the time.

Sequential Six-Trak !
A mother effer to program, but hot damn I can make some wicked B-movie sounding shit with this piece.

I am currently evaluating some soft synths.
Kinda feeling Arturias MiniMoog, though haven't gotten to in-depth with it yet.

No such thing

Awesome sound though!

Yam CS-80 had a unique preset feature, actually a little miniature control panel to set up alternate sounds...

Prophet-5 launched a thousand hits somewhere back in her long ago...
Ghosts were busted with the Roland Jupiter 8
Oberheim OB8 helped create a new "System"

But the baddest of them all is the Minimoog.
Without it, we could not Flash the Light, walk the Atomic Dog, stutta "chChChChChaka Kahn Chaka Kahn or Drop the Bomb on anyone.

Only prob is that you cant get snappy envelopes out of one to save your life... but if you're looking for weird melody/chord type stuff and bizarre mod & textures, sure...

may as well throw a Prophet-VS in here too... it can be snappy and aggressive when it wants to.. or liquid cool.
