Eq Question for ITB Mixes

Lets say on vocals like if artist A has lead, double, and 2 addlibs. Do you eq each vox (if it needs it) or do you group all vocals (artist A) to a group and use 1 over all eq 4 all vocals. Just asking?

a lot of times i will do both. On the individual channels, i will do a lot of subtractive EQing, getting rid of frequencies that are troublesome or not needed. Then i send all those, say for example all the verse vocals, to a subgroup where there will be some broader EQ applied, maybe boosting some lows for warmth and body or boosting some highs, that all depends.

If its a lead that's contained within one track (not split out for those who don't know how to breath) then I keep it seperate from the Ads. The ads are usually seperate also unless there are tons of them. After the 4 ads I might group. If I am doing a rough mix then I might put the lead and ads together and apply general processing on the aux only. Hooks and BGV's are always grouped and given overal compression, EQ, FX.

Cool Biznizz....

Ok im not a big fan of stock eq's direct from Cubase ( Or Nuendo<<< used @ a pro studio) But for my home use i wanna use some eq's thats not cpu taxing. I've demo'ed the urs which is some real good stuff, Any other suggestions.

UAD 1 & WAVES REN COMPS. These are all pretty good on vox's and tend to have more of a analouge sound. A free plug that's also good on Rap vox is Blockfish.
