Question For Cubase Users. Note Repeat Funtion?

I switched to Cubase SX3 for sequencing instruments and recording and i was wondering does Cubase have the same note repeat function like the MPC?

If so how do i use it?

Im not familiar with the mpc but if you give a detailed example of what your trying to do maybe someone can help out.

Theres lots of ways in cubase to repeat a midi note. You can hold down the alt key, click on a note and copy it where ever you need it or you can right click on a note, select "repeat" and enter how many times you want to repeat it.

hope this helps

Your kidding me! Man thats a REAL drag. Tony, how would i get around this?. In other words how would i do something like for example "Lean Back" where at the end of the 16th bar just before the chorus that bass, piano, and kick are repeating in the 1/32 note pattern. Is there anyway to do this?. I switched to cubase for sequencing instruments because i have soooo much more flexibility this way. That sucks. Thanks for any help.

rynugz007, what im talking about is lets say i want a bass sound from a keyboard to keep repeating in the 1/32 note. Obviously you wont be able to play this yourself so you need a note repeat function. This basically plays the note at the same velocity and length everytime but it repeats in either a 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 note, ect however you set the timing and swing.

With the mpc i would for example hold down a key on my keyboard on a bass sound with holding down the "timing correct" button on the MPC 3000. If my timing was set to 1/32 notes than thats how it would repeat the note. This is what i would like to do in cubase. Thanks!

Set your quantize, go into your drum editor and visually draw in your hits with the pencil tool.

MPC is a drum machine with a note repeat as is the SP12 and 1200.

Cubase is a sequencer, it has no interface.

You can use your MPC synced with cubase in midi to add the hits in the drum editor with your note repeat button.

That's the easiest way to get around it... I know people who actually use the note repeat function on the MPC as part of a performance, and for them they are out of luck. But, you can easily just grab the pencil tool and click.... It's a lot faster too.
